Excited to share the results of Reform Elections Now's 2024 Presidential Election Simulation. We were thrilled the output illustrated so compellingly the impact of voting and vote-counting methodologies on the types of candidates who win. Running the voting preferences of our participants through various election systems provided FOUR different general election winners.?One of the winners only prevailed in the simulation using the existing election system.?Arguably, all three other winners – arrived at via election systems proposed or in existence in some jurisdictions - represent candidates who are more widely accepted and desired by the electorate. The simulations also demonstrated that the use of single, non-partisan primaries can generate higher quality general election ballots - more so if 3-5 candidates are advanced from the primary to the general election. ? As noted in the presentation, the survey itself was not conducted scientifically and the results were never intended to represent predictions of how the 2024 presidential election will unfold (or even how it might have unfolded if such reforms were in place already).? The purpose was to show how election systems can be modified to enfranchise all voters and create the right incentives for candidates and public officials. ? Our current election system is a primary driver of polarization and a Congress that focuses primarily on demonizing the "other" side vs. working to solve the Nation's urgent problems. The reforms discussed in this presentation could play a major role in making public officials accountable to the broader electorate.

I want to make a difference! As elections draw closer, it’s a good time to reflect on how powerful each vote is in shaping our communities, policies, and future. Voting is one of the most direct ways to influence the issues that matter to us. Here's a quick overview of the election timeline to keep in mind: - Mail your ballot by Oct 29? - You can also drop your envelope in a voting box on election day Nov. 7th by 7pm? - If you want to make sure your vote was received go to:? https://lnkd.in/gBnnyJUJ I know the ballot is scary. There are so many people on it with TWO whole pages! But please don't get discouraged. This is such an important time in history to make your vote count. I want us to try our best to make meaningful choices that will shape the coming years. So I want to help and provide some websites that will make this process a little easier. No matter where you stand, remember: Your vote counts. Let’s make our voices heard and encourage others to do the same! 1. Great starting point:? https://lnkd.in/gEvFjCFr 2. You can browse through this website but I specifically like the "find-my-candidates" page because you can find each person and what they stand for with their website links:? https://lnkd.in/gZvG9zHC https://lnkd.in/g3HxeFbw 3. I think proposition measures are one of the most important items on the ballot. They are the most direct form of democracy.? This is the big booklet for all the propositions:? https://lnkd.in/gDgVkWYE 4. Easy voter guide for judges:? https://lnkd.in/gfKaFFfK Looking up the judges performance:?? https://lnkd.in/gEqW7EhK https://lnkd.in/g5Kjkb4m Additional info about the judges:?? https://lnkd.in/gZMW5CB7 5. Other honorable mention:?? Rep. Analise Ortiz on tiktok Remember you can't complain about what happens next if you didn't raise your voice and vote!?

Our conclusive stance is that we should promote using the ‘1, 2, 3’ - Manape (?????) approach in the current presidential election. This approach is likely to be more democratic than using a single cross. Additionally, it’s best to decide on the specific "1, 2, 3" choices closer to the election, perhaps about two weeks before. Based on the current counting system, voting for non-prominent candidates could result in a simple loss of votes and effort due to its deletion at counting. Next Steps ? Group to create and circulate a video promoting the 1-2-3 voting option for the presidential election.? ? Group to maintain an independent stance and continue providing impartial analysis and criticism of candidates and policies.? ? Group to focus on promoting open debate and creating space for democratic participation after the presidential election.? ? Group to continue monitoring the political situation and reassess their position after the presidential election results.? ? Group to prepare for potential involvement in discussions leading up to the general election.? ? Group to continue advocating for key reforms such as abolishing dictatorial presidential powers and politician perks.? ? Group to explore ways to unite disparate reform-minded groups for future elections.?
