The counter to this is potassium permanganate (K M n O 4). While potassium permanganate doesn’t entirely destroy cyanide, it can get the chemical down to acceptable levels. The main benefit of using this solution is that toxic compounds like cyanogen chloride don’t form when potassium permanganate is added to the water.
