Big Week for Check-In Wellness: Celebrating Milestones and Success!?????? We are thrilled to share some exciting news and achievements at Check-In Wellness! Firstly, a huge congratulations to Ashlie Tislow, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, OCN for passing her boards! She is now officially a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Ashlie’s journey began almost four years ago when she decided to go back to school. Her expertise, originally in Hematology/Oncology, now extends to mental health! Her dedication and hard work are truly inspiring! Additionally, we had the privilege of speaking at the Indiana Wellness Summit on Thursday. The turnout was incredible, and we were both humbled and thrilled to see our room filled to capacity, with some attendees even standing! Despite initial nerves, our passion for the topic carried us through, allowing us to speak from the heart and connect meaningfully with our audience. Also, a HUGE shoutout to our mom! She is one of our biggest cheerleaders! She joined in on the conference with us too! ?? We are so grateful for these opportunities and look forward to continuing our journey of serving more clients and making a positive impact in the wellness community. Thank you for being part of our exciting journey! #CheckInWellness #MentalHealth #PsychiatricNursePractitioner #indianawellnesssummit

As healthcare professionals, we are well aware of the significance of mental health. However, in our pursuit of caring for others, we often tend to neglect our own well-being. There is a brilliant self-assessment tool by Mayo Clinic called the Well-Being Index designed to help healthcare professionals worldwide prioritize their mental health. This web-based tool is open to dentists, doctors, pharmacists, nurses, and students, and it only takes less than a minute to complete. The best part is that it is 100% anonymous. I strongly recommend everyone to learn more about this invaluable resource and take advantage of its benefits. ?? This week in our Ageing Voices resource series, we share: Guidebook Two: Special Interest Choirs If you missed Guidebook One head over to our website where you can download them for free! ??These resources have been designed to give people the tools they need to create, run and nurture singing groups for older people within their communities. Here are some recommendations for facilitating special interest groups: 1) Sort out the How, Who and Where: It’s important to think about the practical side of things before you get members. Where will you practice? Who will help with contacts? So, you need insurance? There’s lots of help for these questions here, at Sing Ireland 2) Recruit within the healthcare community: Connect with healthcare workers who are trusted in the community. They can recommend the choir to any patients that they feel will benefit from it. Occupational therapists, district nurses, GPs can all be contacted 3) Repetition, regularity and reliability: It is important to meet regularly and to stick to a routine that participants are comfortable with. The reassurance of an ongoing routine can be vital for the mental health of participants. 4) Ask and understand: Get to know your participants and make sure that they are happy and comfortable within the choir. Recognize the different levels of experience and illness and work within the parameters they create. 5) What might you sing? Shape your repertoire around with your members, listen to their suggestions and create music that they want to sing. For more and to download guidebook Two: https://lnkd.in/ePKCgJA6

I've had quite a few emails asking if it's too late to put a paper in for this year's emergency care conference.? This often happens, I've done it myself more often than I'd like to admit, the deadline for submitting abstracts came and went - and you didn't get chance to put your paper in. We've reopened submissions, but only until tomorrow. The Scientific Committee are meeting to review papers next week so that really is the latest you can submit. This conference is great because of the eclectic mix of presentations from around emergency care, and it's always hard to choose.?One of the reasons it exists is to create space for people to share their work, passions and great ideas, and I love that we get to showcase so many people, both seasoned and new. Don't be shy now, get your abstract in - we can't wait to read it. Submit your abstract now https://lnkd.in/ddttKzyD If you need a reminder of what the conference is about, this year's theme is 'Making space' – literally, metaphorically and psychologically. We are particularly keen to get papers around the broad theme of making space, including, but not limited to the following areas: Looking after each other Clinical Care Collaborative working Case studies Sharing best practice Considering specific patient groups – mental health, paediatrics, older people, trauma etc. Leadership Social implications for Emergency Care Workplace wellbeing Managing aggression Climate change as a health emergency It's also not too late to waft this in front of someone you'd love to see speak at the conference - you (and they) have until tomorrow to get this done. Submit your abstract now If you're not yet ready for public speaking, you can still get ahead of the rush and book your ticket early, we’ve held last year’s prices and you can?book your ticket here https://lnkd.in/ejwst_2F

It is estimated by ACMHN that only half of the 25,000 nurses working in mental health have received adequate training, and the NMBA still confuses supervision with supervised practice for those who are starting out etc. I developed and piloted a ten week immersive and intensive course last year nationally which inspired participants and transformed practice, in trauma- informed reflective and relational psychotherapy practice. Nurses are hungry for this but hospitals can’t afford it especially in Victoria, and nurses often can’t get released from work one day a week for ten weeks. I agree that there needs to be a massive investment in MH nurses so that we can once more work to our full scope of practice as reflective, relational and trauma informed clinicians
