In case you haven't seen them, the Health Law Section's member spotlights feature section members on social media and our website. The spotlights are fun and informal opportunities for our members to collaborate and have access to potential referrals, co-counsel, and new professional connections. Here's our July spotlight on Michael L. Smith, a senior attorney at The Health Law Firm in Altamonte Springs. Read all the spotlights at https://lnkd.in/daJ2R9gJ. Q: What is your area of health law specialization? A:? I represent nurses, physicians, and other healthcare providers, including healthcare facilities (surgery centers, healthcare clinics, home health agencies, assisted living facilities, clinical laboratories, and others). ? Q:? What is your career-defining moment? A:? I’ve been working in health law for in excess of 20 years, so it’s hard to define one particular moment that stands out among the rest.? When I was in law school I got an opportunity to have lunch in Parliament with a law judge and tour England for a few months, which was tremendous in highlighting the history of our legal system. However, if I was giving advice to anyone considering going to law school, I would highly recommend doing it and seeking a specialty area as interesting as the practice of health law. The practice of law takes you places you would never think to go and provides opportunities that you could never have imagined. ? Q: What are you doing when you’re not working? What is a unique thing about you outside of lawyering? A:? When I’m not working, I like to take walks and go bicycling. I garden and maintain a saltwater aquarium. ? Q:? What do you see as an emerging area or topic? A:? From a practitioner standpoint in the field of health law, I think that the expanding roles of nurse practitioners and physician assistants in the delivery of health services and legal issues that will arise from this, will be a growing legal area in the future.

Here’s what bridging the gap between health law, public policy, and personal injury looks like… As a female personal injury attorney in San Diego, my journey through the realms of health law and public policy before focusing on personal injury law has equipped me with a unique perspective that benefits my clients in profound ways. Understanding the intricacies of health law and public policy is not just an academic exercise; it's about seeing the bigger picture in personal injury cases. This background allows me to navigate the complex healthcare system, understand the implications of public health policies on individual rights, and advocate for fair compensation with a depth of knowledge that goes beyond the surface. Here’s how our clients benefit: - Comprehensive Understanding: I can foresee how health policies and laws impact injury claims, ensuring a comprehensive approach to seeking justice and compensation. - Strategic Advocacy: With a deep understanding of both the legal and health policy landscapes, I strategize advocacy that aligns with current laws and policies, offering clients a more robust representation. - Navigating Healthcare: Dealing with injuries often means navigating the complex healthcare system. My background in health law means I can guide clients through this process, ensuring they understand their rights and options. - Maximizing Compensation: Knowledge of health law and public policy enables me to argue more effectively for compensation that truly reflects the impact of the injury on my client's life, considering both immediate and long-term needs. This unique blend of expertise means that when you work with me, you're not just getting a lawyer; you're getting an advocate who understands the broader context of your injury and how to leverage that for your benefit. If you or someone you know is navigating the aftermath of an injury and could benefit from this comprehensive approach, let's connect. Together, we can work towards not just recovery, but also ensuring such experiences lead to broader positive changes. #PinesSalomon #JulieGlisan #ListenToGlisan #PersonalInjuryLaw #HealthLaw #PublicPolicy #SanDiegoAttorney
