Congrats to Hoobs for taking Third Place Overall at the CHAMPS Trade Shows Glass Games Masters Finals! Adam Whobrey, also known as Hoobs, was born in 1982 in Torrance, California. Growing up in a diverse subculture, he discovered the underground art of flameworking glass in 2001. Largely self-taught, he honed his skills outside of traditional schooling, traveling across the U.S. to exchange techniques with fellow artists. Focused on creating realistic and emotionally resonant glasswork, his pieces draw inspiration from human experiences spanning the 20th century and beyond. In 2010, Adam gained widespread recognition for sculpting the first glass sneaker, attracting collectors that include renowned musicians and business leaders. With over two decades dedicated to mastering his craft, he continues to push the boundaries of borosilicate glass, leading some of the largest projects ever undertaken in the medium. His work bridges cultures and has helped expand the reach of glass art to a broader audience. Adam has exhibited his work throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe, and has taught in these regions as well. His art has been featured in multiple glass and non-glass-related publications, and his pieces are now collected and sold in over 18 countries.
