The dirty secret lesson of business (YES THAT MEANS YOU VENTURE-BACKED TECHNOLOGY) is that all businesses just go where opportunity takes them. Thinking that there's a way to sit at your desk and chess-move your way to success is a losing battle. It's less battle planning and more judo, where you perceptively use momentum. But that's the thing - startups by definition typically don't have momentum. Even at later stages, most product niches are still being carved out and/or discovered. It's the exception (not the rule) to be in a market where you can stay static for very long.

Storytelling can move minds, shape hearts, form nations, and build empires. It's the most important skill for the founder of any early stage startup as they try to win investors, customers, and employees before theres tangible proof their vision of the future is financially or technologically viable.
