LaToya Lee Jones, Brandon Miller and I are excited that the 8th Annual WOCIP Conference is almost here! In addition to the What to Expect at WOCIP 2024 content, LaToya and I put together a few tips and tricks that we have learned from attending in previous years: - Visit the registration table early: you’ll get lots of goodies you’ll use throughout the conference, including your badge and WOCIP swag! - Download and use the app: it’s a great way to not only navigate the conference but also connect with friends, old and new! - Choose your own adventure: with so many interesting and thought-provoking session topics to choose from, building your personal agenda in the app ensures you don’t miss a thing! - Take the session surveys: This is a great way to show love after an invigorating discussion and helps WOCIP keep providing us with great content! - Have your Linked In QR code handy: this is a great way to stay in touch with all your new connections! - Step out of your comfort zone: Don't let shyness hold you back. The WOCIP community is welcoming and friendly. Don't be afraid to mingle - you'll make valuable connections. - Be prepared to immerse yourself in the experience. This is a conference like no other! You will get the most out of it by opening your mind body and spirit.?? ? See you soon! #Women of Color in Pharma (WOCIP)

Let's conduct a simple test to see if I am wrong. Several ICMA members have told me something that I think is incredibly naive. They believe they can change the organization from within. But how can you change the ICMA - International City/County Management Association from within when the entire process of electing members to the executive board is rigged? Every candidate is handpicked by the establishment and they get to run unopposed! OK -- let's put that aside for a moment and work on something smaller and much easier to accomplish. Let's talk about the ICMA's selection of host cities for their annual conference. Here is the list: https://lnkd.in/djDrgSiZ As the president of the American Association of Municipal Executives, I am officially declaring that all future conferences will be held in cities with a council-manager form of government. If you are a member of the ICMA and think the organization that supposedly exists to promote the council-manager form of government should host their events in cities that actually have city managers -- demand change. Prove me wrong! Demand that Marc Ott and the ICMA executive board only hold events in council-manager cities after the 2024 annual conference. If you can't change something this easy and reasonable -- how do you expect to change anything else? ----- No organization exists to defend and advocate for the city or county manager as a professional. That is -- until now! If you are a public sector executive, you are invited to become a founding member of the American Association of Municipal Executives. Join today at: AAME.org

What an outstanding adviser / fund manager partnership in terms of performance and service.
It has been a big year for the team, one of growth and building for the future. Our review of 2024 is chock-full of milestones that we hit thanks to everyone's hard work. And so, in chronological order, - ?? Change of address: using our own fair hands we fitted out and moved into our new gorgeous office in Rutland Square – a testament to the genius of Gemma Bertolotto and everyone's DIY skills ?? Our partnership with Aspen began, bringing our clients outstanding investment options ?? Our beautiful new website and branding launched, the work of the brilliant Vipond & Co. who became trusted partners ?? Our team grew, with Graeme Lawson, Kristian Kerr, Fiona Morrison, Graeme Beveridge, and Morgan Rae joining across the year ?? We became the headline sponsor of Scotland’s only personal finance newspaper supplement, contributing a monthly column to Scotsman Money, edited by Rosemary Gallagher ???? We cooked up a storm together on our spring team day, with soufflés and roulades a-go-go ?? In July, we decamped to Scone Palace for a weekend at the The GWCT Scottish Game Fair, where we hosted clients, friends and canine companions in the sunshine ?? Tom Ham was on the conference trail throughout the year, giving keynote talks at Money Marketing Interactive in London and Leeds, as well and closer to home at the Scotsman Investment Conference ?? Bruce Hendry joined as Head of Edinburgh Office in September, a key appointment to Calton’s leadership team ?? The UK Budget occasioned our first hybrid event. We convened a panel to make sense of the changes for our clients and beamed it out as a webinar ??? We brought new technology into the business, working closely with the team at Ningi to create a bespoke solution for our advisers and support team Huge thanks to everyone who was a part of our journey this year. We are so proud to have achieved so much and look forward to more in 2025. See you on the other side! In the meantime, Merry Christmas!

Warning, bad puns ahead. Apologies in advance – the McIntyre Family has been watching reruns of "House M.D." Chicago-area association chapter/component relations professionals: When you and your chapters share the same companies as potential sponsors, exhibitors, and advertisers, it can create friction for you, your chapter, *and* the shared corporate buyers. Friction is no bueno... symptoms include complicated situations between national/chapter orgs, corporate buyer frustration, and ultimately, less revenue. While there's no magic cream to fix that kind of friction, at my deep dive session on Tuesday, May 7th during the Association Component Exchange (CEX) event in Chicago, we'll conduct a differential diagnosis of the issues that cause this condition and develop a treatment plan to turn rivalries into revenue through national/chapter collaboration. You'll hear real-life examples, discuss ideas with your fellow CRPs, and develop actionable steps forward. Hopefully, we'll manage to avoid multiple misdiagnoses and near-death experiences along the way. I know, I know... enough already. I'll stop! ?? In addition to this session, the CEX full-day agenda also includes collaborative peer-to-peer solution rounds, engaging learning and networking experiences, and access to chapter tools and resources designed specifically for CRPs. Register now using this link to save $20 on your registration: https://lnkd.in/gWUtgJSC Hope to see you in Chicago!! #AssociationCEX #CRPs #Nonduesrevenue #Associations
