The mental health of children and young people continues to be of great concern, particularly post Covid. ?? Nearly a fifth of children aged seven to 16 years old are reported to have a probable mental health disorder. ?? More than a quarter of a million children are on the waiting list for treatment. ?? What employers may be less aware of is the impact that this can have on people in their teams. ?? Almost 1 in 10 parents have considered leaving their role due to their children’s mental health needs. ? But Richard Norris, general manager of business and specialist products at Bupa says that there is a lot employers can do to support parents of children with mental health needs, from helping them get expert care to providing support and flexibility in the workplace.
