Expanding Housing First initiatives can significantly support charities like Newbury Soup Kitchen in housing our clients. Housing First offers a pathway to more sustainable outcomes for our clients. Rather than solely providing temporary relief, Newbury Soup Kitchen can collaborate with Housing First programs to facilitate the transition of our clients into permanent housing. This allows us to focus its resources on other essential services, such as providing meals and outreach. Sadly, this service is required now more than ever with the increasing rise in homelessness across England. Through collaboration and a shared commitment to housing as a fundamental human right, Housing First can support our clients find a long-term solution to homelessness. #notjustsoup

Really insightful wellbeing session today at the St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity #frontlinenetwork conference In a climate of higher demand, fewer funds and fewer resources it is imperative that we make worker wellbeing a priority We may not be able to change the landscape but there are certainly small actions and behaviours we can adopt to make a difference #controlthecontrollables
Great to see Kellie Armstrong MLA taking part in the St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity Frontline Network #Strengthincommunity conference today in a session on wellbeing for frontline staff in the homelessness sector. Made a valuable point about the need for funding to be provided to fund provision for staff wellbeing in the homelessness sector due to the key role they have to play in supporting people experiencing homelessness

National Homelessness Week 2024: Taking Action Now This week is National Homelessness Week, a time to bring our attention to the wide range of people that are impacted by Homelessness here in Australia. There is an estimated 122,000 individuals who find themselves without a place to call home on any given night. Homelessness is not just the rough sleepers you see out on the streets in the city or in their car, it includes people who are forced to move from one temporary shelter to another, such as emergency accomodation and refuges or people coach surfing. And then there are also the people who live in accomodation that falls below the minimum standards, this can include boarding houses, caravan parks and overcrowded homes. The theme for this year’s Homelessness Week is “Homelessness Action Now,” emphasising the urgent need for solutions to end homelessness. Let’s use this week not just to talk about homelessness but to take concrete steps towards ending it. Whether you’re attending an event, volunteering, or advocating for policy changes, every action counts. One of Dovetail's awesome client's REOM Real Estate of Melbourne has definitely #TakeAction. Rob Gillies kicked off an 18-hour Bowl-a-thon at 6am this morning partnered with one our Hero Charity Partners We Are Mobilise. They have already smashed their $6,000 minimum fundraising target before he started and is now going for $10,000. You can #TakeAction today and donate to their campaign and even check out Rob's progress via his #LiveFeed here https://lnkd.in/gMceG3a6 #HW2024 #CharityPartner #Fundraising #Business4Good #Homelessness

In 2021/22, 40,000 young people aged 15–24 sought help from homelessness services throughout Australia. Their most common reasons for seeking assistance included the ongoing housing crisis, escaping family and domestic violence, or relationship or family breakdown. We know affordable, suitable and stable housing is fundamental in ensuring the economic, social, psychological and physical wellbeing of young people. That’s why we’re proud to continue our Partnership with the Property Industry Foundation, an independent not-for-profit charity with a mission to increase the supply of accommodation for homeless youth, and ongoing support for initiatives that have a tangible impact on youth homelessness, through partnerships with other charities, companies and staff in the property and construction industry. #livebetter #aqualandaustralia #sydneyrealestate #australiandeveloper #property #sponsorship #support #youthhomelessness #charity #partnerships @propertyindustryfoundation

[Homelessness in Manchester] Will you make the difference today? I’m proud to be a Trustee of the Booth Centre, a community centre in Manchester run with people affected by homelessness.???? As our 2022-2023 Impact Report shows, we’re making a difference to 1,000+ people annually. Section 21 no-fault evictions reached an all-time high in 2023, with more than 7,400 cases being brought before the courts. Added to this, anyone receiving a positive outcome to their asylum case is served with a 28-day notice to quit. But our resources are limited. We urgently need donations to ensure we can continue to provide for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness - Breakfast and lunch - Training and help to gain employment - Support to improve health and wellbeing - Access emergency accommodation and to secure and maintain a permanent home And many more things. As an independent charity, we rely on the generosity of our community. ASK: Would you help us and donate today? https://lnkd.in/ea6P-iEx #ESG #CSR #SocialValue #SocialImpactBusiness #CorporateSocialResponsibility #Manchester #Homelessness

Staff from the policy and research team at TDS visited the Elms hostel in Hemel Hempstead, near the TDS headquarters, for a meeting with the homelessness charity DENS last week. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the development of a project to improve the private rented sector and tackle homelessness in the local area. This follows a recent report published by the TDS Charitable Foundation, which found that people on a low income are finding it hard to access private rented accommodation in Dacorum, and even middle earners are struggling to sustain private tenancies in the current cost of living crisis. The report identified a number of possible interventions that could be introduced to tackle these problems and reduce the threat of homelessness in the borough. Teardrops, a #Merseyside homelessness charity faces "imminent closure" due to a "perfect storm" of increased energy bills, wage costs and rent. The St Helens based group helps rough sleepers by providing hot meals, clothing and advice. They also provide local schools with food and uniform for children in need. I wonder how many other small but critical charities are facing the same situation? I wonder if this issue will appear on the manifestos or the campaign literature of any of the major political parties? #costofliving #homelessness #charity #poverty #community #socialimpact #ukhousing #donations #localauthority #school @homelesslink Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Shelter NSPCC Child Poverty Action Group UK Action for Children Simon on the Streets #politics Labour Party (UK) The Conservative Party Lib Dems in Comms #foodbank The Trussell Trust https://lnkd.in/eTNBuara

Housing crisis? More people made homeless than bought their first home in England. Source: Generation Rent (Oct 2022 - Sept 2023) In the 12 months to Sept 2023, homelessness increased with 164,630 families becoming homeless, up 11% from 148,110 a year earlier. In the same period 126,100 bought their first home, down 52% from 264,400 a year earlier. Both demonstrate the crisis in UK housing, with no strategic plan and many challenges ahead. The role of charities, housing associations and lenders (typically building societies) who support Shared Ownership has rarely been greater. #housingcrisis #homeownership #charities #housingassociations #generationrent #sharedownership #buildingsocieties #homelessness #makeadifference #ukhousing #costoflivingcrisis
