Another person applying the power of music to heal the world... ... you might think there is really something about this for all of us, in whatever space we are in... There is. And if you need science, that exists also. Yes, you can get some of this from listening, but the real joy is in actually doing it together. Join us. #leadingWithMusic #empoweringLEADERS #GtownCoach
For those of you that know me, you know I have been a passionate volunteer for many years. My primary channel to give back is through music. Specifically, visiting patients and families in hospitals / care facilities. I was honored to be one of the volunteers highlighted this month for Roper St. Francis Healthcare. I normally don't post things about myself in this manner, but feeling called to share because a) this article is a true representation of the program I have been developing over the past ~15 years across several care facilities and I'm extremely proud of the program I've helped to build and b) there is such a need for more volunteers across various programs - not just music! My hope is this post will connect with just ONE person in a way that calls them to serve. If I can answer any questions locally here in Charleston about the programming at Roper, or about this type of music program (near or far), don't hesitate to reach out! https://lnkd.in/etfNZ2Em

We are smack dab in the middle of the Christmas season. There is a TON of stuff going on. Christmas parties, school concerts, and lots and lots of family get-togethers. Many churches jump on the bandwagon and fill the calendar with their own slate of events. That may be the proper strategy in your case, but realize there is a cost. Each event you do takes away from your ability to do something else with excellence – do you want to split your budget and staff energies across ten December events, or does it make more sense to focus intently on the Christmas Eve services [and making sure that whatever you invite guests back to in January is awesome]? Another cost is congregational overload. Think of it this way – would it be good for your child to be in basketball – and track – and drama club – and student government – and debate team – and choir – and band – all at the same time? Why not? Those are all good things… They are indeed good things, but not simultaneously. Similarly, you can burn out your congregation by “should-ing” them into too many things in an already jam-packed December. Not trying to be a Scrooge, but I’d rather see churches do a few things and do them incredibly, than do a bunch of things so-so. I say this a lot, but it’s good to remember – more isn’t better, better is better. ?#creativeworshipideas

?? ?? "Let’s make this a game. Find one or two solutions to each problem reason?without?using the phrases:?Great Repertoire, Guest Artist,?or?Your Support." ?? Find a creative solution or solutions for some real reasons why people stay away: ? The parking lot is hard to get out of after a concert. ? There is too much talking from the stage. ? People don’t know when to clap. ? People forget to shut off their cell phones or other disruptions from the audience. ? There are no restaurants near the hall. Or restaurants are not open after a concert. ? People don’t feel welcome yet get asked for donations week upon week after the concert. ? The orchestra looks bored. ? The seats are cramped. ? Finding babysitting is rough. ? Family of four costs more than going to the movies. ?? Why people stay at home instead of enjoy live concerts! Read on, share your thoughts and solutions in the comments!

Throwback to one of the craziest and coolest moments from back in the day—being featured on MTV Laguna Beach with my first band. Wild times. ?? Starting that band was all about figuring things out as we went—loading gear into Mom and Dad's car, playing tiny shows, and doing whatever it took to get our music out there. When MTV called to feature our band on Season 3 it was a wild and surreal experience in high school as a 16 year old. From playing TRL to touring with some of our favorite bands. Looking back, those moments weren’t just about music—they were about learning what it really takes to build something meaningful, and then being ready when opportunity comes to your door. Whether it’s a band, a business, or a new idea, it’s all the same: start small, work hard, and stay true to what feels real. Some things I picked up along the way: 1. Just start. You’re never going to feel "ready," so don’t wait—just jump in. 2. The process is the magic. All the little, unglamorous moments are what make big things happen. 3. This one is huge- I always had this wild fantasy and end destination in my mind of what I thought would give me the most happiness- huge shows, massive tours, etc. but when you actually get there- the feeling isn't all that different than playing in front of 150 people. Have high aspirations, but don't expect a complete change in who you become. 3. Be 100% you. People connect with authenticity, whether it’s on stage or anywhere else. Anyone else a Laguna Beach fan back then? ?? #Throwback #MTV #LagunaBeach #BandLife #Grind #ChasingDreams #FindYourGrind"

PLEASE SHARE! Music friends, colleagues and clients: Through my companies, LGA Creative and BLRBMag, I've started a gear and service exchange for victims of the recent California fires. The project's mission is to facilitate exchanges between musicians who HAVE, and musicians who NEED. https://lnkd.in/gwQjdxax I'm going to project manage the pages, and be here for any help that anybody needs along the way. These will be one-on-one exchanges. And if those giving can't facilitate transport to those in need, we are also looking for people who will volunteer as drivers. Everything will be gathered through a Facebook group page linked above and below. Some of the suggested items to exchange: 1. Gear 2. Accessories 3. Studio Time 4. Your Talents 5. Transportation 6. A Kind Ear The California community has stepped up and beyond over the past few days, giving everything from money to every day essentials like food, water, shelter and clothing. I had this idea because, being married to a musician with a house, and garage, and sheds full of gear, I know that within those collections, all of you have something that you either don't need, don't use, or would be happy to either lend or give to somebody who needs it now. Meanwhile, start looking through your things to see what you might be able to give. And if anybody reading this is in need, I hope that this process will help you rebuild. The music community is a strong one. Let's all show some love! *Please share with people in your network!* https://lnkd.in/gwQjdxax Lisa + LGA Creative + BLRBMag #CAFires #LAFires #Musicians #MusicCommunity #Music #MusiciansHelpingMusicians #AudioEngineers #MusicProducers #MusicBusiness LGA Creative Consulting

This is one of the better videos I've seen explaining current housing market dynamics in the United States, and perhaps unsurprisingly it uses musical chairs as a metaphor for that same market. Maybe because most people have at one time or another played the game, or perhaps because it really strips down market forces to the most basic 'demand' and 'supply' considerations. In any event, this 2 minute video is well worth your time - and well worth sharing. #housing #affordability #housingmarket #greaterboston
