Project Update: Transforming US 59 ?? With the rise in traffic demands, the need for a seamless, interstate-quality road along US 59 has never been more urgent. Volkert is proud to support TxDOT's efforts in the Yoakum District, delivering Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services for the US 59 transformation in Wharton County—just 60 miles southwest of Houston. This critical 8.3-mile section serves as both a local lifeline and a major artery for statewide traffic. Once complete, this stretch of I-69 will feature: ?? Six main travel lanes (three in each direction) with 12-foot shoulders ?? Four frontage road lanes with inside and outside shoulders ?? Northwest industrial market update: Interesting news on leasing activities in the sub market! 200,000 SF has been leased at the former blu dot space in Otsego, while another 200,000 SF has been secured at Diamond Lake Industrial in Rogers. Additionally, a significant 334,000 SF has been leased at the I-94 Distribution Center in Dayton. The 1M SF Cubes development has good activity, poised to reach full capacity pending the successful closure of a few lease deals (400-500K SF). With these recent agreements, the bulk landscape in the corridor is rapidly diminishing, leaving little to no available space. I’d like to take a minute and reflect on the incredible impact that committee work has had and continues to have on the Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance (VTCA), and more so, the industry as a whole. Things are always changing and evolving. As a result, challenges, issues, unintentional consequences, whatever the case may be, an intentional look into the impacts are critical to forward progress. These committees exemplify the true spirit of collaboration. Whether it's addressing industry challenges, or shaping and re-tweaking specifications and policies, the work of these committees often goes quietly unnoticed by most people, yet the benefits are felt throughout the Commonwealth by all. The reality is that they are the heartbeat of progress and transformation. So…, a heartfelt thank you to the passionate individuals who dedicate their time, energy, and expertise to VTCA’s committees. Your commitment is the driving force behind the positive impact we as a group make in the transportation arena. I might add, interested in being a catalyst for change and contributing to the future of Virginia's transportation landscape? Explore VTCA’s committees, engage with peers in the industry, and be a part of keeping Virginia moving. There is important work yet to be done.
