Today, I witnessed something that deeply troubled me: a child, barely 8 or 9 years old, working at a bike shop from 11 AM to 11 PM. This young child is subjected to 12 hours of labor every day. Child labor is a harsh reality that robs children of their childhood, education, and future opportunities. It’s heart-wrenching to see children in such circumstances when they should be learning, playing, and growing in a safe environment. We must raise our voices against child labor and work together to create a world where every child can enjoy their right to a carefree and nurturing childhood. Let’s advocate for better laws, support organizations fighting child labor, and spread awareness about this critical issue. Suggest us how we can work on it ??? #EndChildLabor #ChildhoodMatters #HumanRights #SocialResponsibility #YouthAdvocacy #EducationForAll #childlabour

Imagine sitting in the stadium of a football field during your favourite team’s practice… The players are all standing on the starting line. Under the midday sun, the coach places hurdles every 10 meters and asks players to overcome them through the drills they practiced. The coach shouts: “We will only stop when each and every one of you crosses the finish line.” Now imagine Children in a class room, in parallel rows, but are actually miles away from the starting point – and from each other. Under the pressure of their caregivers to succeed, and the learning loss resulting from crisis, others passionately at home wishing to set foot in the four walls of a classroom. In all my walls, palms, cardboards…, I am shouting: “We will only stop when each and every child sits comfortably on parallel classroom rows smiling at knowledge”???????????????? *This is my DNA* Reviewing any and every assessment of out of school children, one finds consensus that these challenges; cost of education, child labour and abuse, poverty, denied of education either by circumstance of ignorance of their parents, armed conflict and disability are among the top reasons of low education attendance. If we aim to retain children to school, we are to address these challenges. #education #SDG4QualityEducation #rights #childrights #Thechildfirst

Sam has an article in edition 11 of the IEP Journal talking about the importance if working with the disabled community and listening to their narratives. Sometimes it is more important to listen than to try and solve a challenge or create actions as it gives the disabled person the space they need to think. #disabilityconfidentleaders #alwayslearning https://lnkd.in/e2U4gfAy

The youngest of my 4 children is (like 2 of his older siblings) autistic & has missed years 7&8 of secondary school due to lacking EHCP. It has taken 45 weeks to issue (legal requirement is 20 weeks) a functional EHCP (received just this week), 7 years after an initial application for assessment was declined on the grounds that my parental information that he had SEN was “diametrically opposed” to information provided by his school. Putting aside thoughts about the school he was refusing to attend in 2017 through years 3&4, and reflecting on how Leicestershire County Council chose to ignore the Sensory processing diagnosis the NHS had provided & the testimony of many private practitioners eg play therapist as well as my own (swiftly disregarded and very much disrespected) Maternal subjective observations and experiences, I think that this article barely scratches the surface of the despair families are feeling. Comparatively, my older son was provided an assessment & immediatey issued EHCP in 2014 after his heart transplant & notable PRIOR to his diagnosis of autism, adhd & learning disabilities. He joined a fantastic SEND Placement shortly after. The EHCP was based on his needs, and as he was at that time, home educated following prolonged hospitalisation, the reports were entirely based on my maternal subjective reports. In 2014 the system worked. #send #specialeducation #ehcp #socialcare #maternalsubjectivity #systemfailure
