The 2024 Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria (OOSC) is changing as of today April 1, 2024. 11 changes will go into effect, two of the most prominent ones are. Changes to the 20% detective brakes out-of-service condition to include other items. Vehicles equipped with an automatic tire inflation system (ATIS) Will not be placed out of service (OOS) for an audible leak if the tire is maintaining pressure and the puncture is not in the sidewall. May 14-16 is this year's annual International Roadcheck conducted by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA). This safety program is a high-visibility reminder of the importance of commercial motor vehicle safety. Roughly 15 trucks or buses are inspected, on average, every minute across North America during the 72-hour period. Watch the CVSA video below to see what one of these inspections might include:

Be prepared... Brake Safety Week is coming! Commercial motor vehicle inspectors will conduct routine commercial motor vehicle inspections throughout the week, focusing on brake systems and components. Properly functioning brake systems are crucial to safe commercial motor vehicle operation. Brake-related violations comprise the largest percentage of all out-of-service violations cited during roadside inspections. Always complete your pre/post trip inspections.
