Buckle up babes, I'm about to be yapping on LinkedIn. Let’s start with a kinda quick ‘how we got here’ story time. In high school and college, I was a competitive snowboarder, so after college, I wanted to stay close to snowboarding. That led me to my first big girl job at Mountain Creek, a 4 season resort in Vernon, NJ, FKA (Class) Action Park if you've seen the HBO doc. Where I ran the resort’s events like snowboard contests, music festivals, camps at the bike park, water park, etc. We hired someone to do digital marketing. Their work was not good; website calendars weren’t being updated, and promotional emails weren’t going out. It directly impacted my events. In a past life, I had a Myspace & went to school for Industrial Design, so I knew Photoshop, HTML, and I could figure out a CMS. Pretty quickly, I took over EVERYTHING, designing the emails, building the emails, managing the full content calendar and cross-selling 12 different business units. Then Pierson Krass showed up with another consultant to fix Mountain Creek’s business. They saw we had a 12-person marketing team, and one person (me) with one-year of experience was managing the resort content calendar, emails, and events. They fired everyone and absorbed me into the consulting business. That was a ?fun day. That only lasted a year because the lead consultant we were working for was a fraud. A ?fun story for another day. Pierson and I left, going our separate ways. I went on to run retention and email marketing at a consumer tech company, but Pierson begged* me to start Lunar Solar Group with him. He said it would be chill. Spoiler alert, it was not. He told me I’d run the email business and maybe have a couple of employees. Two years later, I ended up building ENKORE, LSG’s email and retention division AND running the NYC office, which had 30+ people. LSG then grew to a 60-person company, and it started incubating SaaS products. Around the same time, Shopify opened its subscription API, and I knew I wanted to build a retention A/B testing tool. We thought it might be similar to the path of KnoCommerce - we’d put some money in and sell it for a base hit multiple of that, but we really didn’t know where it would go. Stay ended up growing beyond our wildest imaginations, and I stepped down from my role leading ENKORE within 3 months of starting Stay. It hasn’t hasn’t been ?chill, but today, we have over 500 customers including top brands like Ollipop, Obvi, Magic Spoon, Momofuku, and Graza. We’ve also raised $25M to keep innovating to serve the needs of our amazing customers. We did it ladies ?? and we're not slowing down any time soon.
