Brownfield contamination can be complex. Combined approaches to remediation can be helpful to reach cleanup goals for brownfield projects. This session will showcase two project examples in Emeryville, CA where, excavation was combined with in-situ technologies appropriate for the site conditions: bioremediation, in-situ thermal, and multi-phase extraction. Join us for practical steps and strategies to achieve regulatory buy-in for a multi-technology approach. The presenters will lead discussion on approaches for success, site-use harmony, and real property benefits/challenges; and review of several technology suites frequently used in combination on California brownfields. This session is geared towards those interested in innovative approaches to cleanup. Register for #CALRC Now: https://loom.ly/KqnyqA8

The Payne Institute for Public Policy has finished rolling out its series of papers on risk mitigation in geological storage for #CCS. In our last papers, we address the topic of project developers transferring liability after site closure and then offer recommendations for developers, insurers and government to foster more projects. Our thanks, again, for the support of the Carbon Capture Coalition and Great Plains Institute for their support! And sending appreciation to Anna Littlefield, Lindene Patton and the terrific students at the Colorado School of Mines for their hard work and valuable contributions! The series of papers can all be accessed at the link below: #emissionsreduction #ccus #carboncapture #co2 #carbonmanagement #climatetechnologies https://lnkd.in/eEE5Jwvi

GeoVault is thrilled to share our Head of CCS Solutions, Rosie Johnstone and CCS GeoScientist, Dominic Hasson MSci, BSc, attended the 3rd EAGE Conference on Carbon Capture and Storage held in Perth last week. Rosie was the moderator for the Day 2 Panel “CCS Projects -Implementation and Challenges” and Dom presented the technical paper “Potential for CCS in the Lower Laurel Dolomites of the Canning Basin”. 120 people from 60 organisations and10 countries were represented, and while the focus was on geological storage of CO2, the conference also looked at many other aspects of the CCUS value chain. Rosie and Dom’s key takeaways from the conference were: knowledge of how to operate CCS projects at scale for the safe and permanent geological storage of CO2 in Australia is advancing and; we can learn technical and operations lessons from each other as we develop both saline aquifer and depleted fields. However regulatory and policy certainty is crucial to allow confidence in investment in these large scale decarbonisation projects. #conference #ccs #ccus #moderator #presenter #knowledge

Waterloo Multilevel Systems Help Characterize Plume in Landfill Expansion Project: Five Waterloo Multilevel Systems were installed to provide discrete zone groundwater sampling and hydraulic monitoring. The resulting high-resolution data allowed delineation of the horizontal and vertical extent of a downgradient plume. This 3D data provided a clearer picture of the subsurface and was used to decide the best placement of a relocated pump and treat system. https://lnkd.in/gmNdVfSp

We recently published a piece covering the buildout of carbon capture infrastructure, specifically looking at greenfield development and brownfield conversion of long-haul pipelines. Please click below to find out more. #CCS #Carboncapture
Carbon dioxide pipeline development is essential for expanding the range of carbon capture projects in the US. Without it, CCS projects must be located near an existing pipeline or geologic storage, or they must directly integrate use of captured carbon in their processes. We outline the challenges (and advantages) facing both greenfield and pipeline conversion projects – from permits to competition. #RaboResearch Nina F.

Houston... Tranquility Base Here... For the past 52 Years (1972-2024), Conventional CO2/EOR Projects have provided "Cheap and Long-Lasting Energy" supporting "America's Energy Independence", while sequestering CO2 in Geologic Formations for millions of years. This includes thousands of injection wells being drilled, including Texas, Gulf Coast, Rockies and Michigan. The Illinois Legislature now has a bill introduced that will ban CO2 storage in the area around the Mahomet Aquifer, an area spanning from the Mississippi River to the Indiana border in the central part of the state. The question Why? CCS is necessary and a proven technology. In 2010 through 2019 Merchant Consulting published SPE and CMTC papers addressing both Conventional CO2/EOR History and Unconventional CO2/EOR Recovery. The Energy Gap CMTC-440223-MS "The Energy Gap – How CO2 Tertiary Oil Recovery will mark its place in the 21st Century".
