I wonder if this chart includes companies from Switzerland. ?? The reality is clear: Europe - including Switzerland - will not win the tech war with high probability. The window of opportunity to catch up is almost non-existent. France might still have a chance, while Germany currently deals with its own challenges. Switzerland, on the other hand, has a serious potential. With political stability, world-class universities, and incredible talent, the foundation is there. But what's missing are deep-pocketed B2C VCs and a more marketing driven entrepreneurial mindset to lead in this space. We don’t need ten Google-like companies, just one could change everything, even compensating for the entire European continent. What company do you see as the next Google/Nvidia/Apple coming out of Switzerland? Hi everyone. Excited to post my 1st Devcon and ETHGlobal Bangkok vlog here! I dedicated this trip for myself and Muhammad Izhan Zikry Mohd Hamdani as we’ve stuck together, losing so many hackathons together, and finally managed to win something and fund ourselves for this trip (also our first overseas trip ??). Also special thanks to Wan Muhammad Aqil Wan Jaafree for guiding us a lot! We didn’t win anything at ETHGlobal Bangkok, but we’ve learnt many valuable lessons. Always bring water to the toilet cause you can’t cebok there ??. Just kidding. What we need is to increase our understand about presentation. What are the product we’re going to deliver. Instead of dummy data, we should use real-world data, and try to onboard users if possible. Make a product that people want to use. But its okay, I understand it now. I’m just a chill guy that make mistakes sometimes (this is meme references btw). Either way, Bangkok for sure is a nice city.

It seems impossible for Europe to win the "war for future tech". Broken funding cycles, missing "unicorn moments with reinvestment of these funds in the local ecosystem", an almost non-existent exit market and many other issues are holding Europe back. And three, there is no "Europe", there is only Germany, France etc, but even within Germany there is only Bavaria, Berlin or even Munich vs Berlin. Europe has never been good at being "one nation" but rather "we are different" and that kills its innovation capabilities for key business models for the digital age: digital ecosystems. Or do you have a different view?

Europe needs unified markets, streamlined regulations, better funding, talent incentives, and a mindset change to lead in tech. I can help drive that transformation - will they accept the challenge?

Seems like a it's lot of people that are unhappy with EU's condition with progress, technology, and its startup ecosystem. Andreas Klinger and levelsio are pushing for eu/acc on X, someone created eu-acc.com. There's already a discord community with more than 300 people (https://lnkd.in/dB-CDaKz). Momentum is building. Something that troubles me with e/acc and a16z's techno-optimist manifesto is the way they remove all nuance suggesting technology as the only necessary ingredient for progress, as well as rejecting all need for caution. Also, their main persona online consists of edgy memelording. That said, I'm pro-technology and happy to see things happening in EU. Let's build the future.

A very productive meeting of the #EUCodexFamily today in Brussels under the Chair of the #PolishPresidency of the EU. We took stock of 2024 and looked ahead to the busy agenda for the #CodexAlimentarius in 2025. The 27 member states along with DG Santé colleagues in the European Commission will be active across the entire range of Codex Committees in order to adopt standards and guidelines aimed at protecting consumers’ health and ensuring fair practices in the food trade. #foodsafety #foodtrade #consumerhealth

Halfway Through the UK Tech Accelerator: Halftime Party ?? Last week, our UK Accelerator teams had the opportunity to join a special status call to celebrate an important milestone – reaching the halfway point of the UK Accelerator program! This summit, our Halftime Party, was not only an occasion to share progress but also to discuss key questions around internationalization and gather fresh insights for the second half of the program. A special thanks goes to the co-organizers and mentors for their contributions: Baden-Württemberg International (BW_i), Germany Trade & Invest, GFT Technologies, and DORNKAMP Law Firm. ? ?? A key focus was on how to best approach German clients. It was highlighted that German companies value long-term partnerships, which require trust. This trust can be fostered through connections with reputable ecosystem partners, a strong brand, expert knowledge, and confident presentation. The teams are on the right track but need to be patient, as building these relationships takes time. ? ?? Another focus was on determining the right timing for taking the next steps in internationalization: Should you acquire initial clients in Germany before setting up an office? Are direct 1:1 meetings or participating in trade shows/events more effective for acquiring clients? The takeaway: Taking those first bold steps is essential for gaining clients and establishing contacts. Thoughtful planning is crucial, but swift execution is key. ? ?? The complexity of the German legal system was also discussed. Is it really that complicated? The advice was clear: Only sign contracts if you fully understand them. Seeking expert assistance is a smart move and should be taken advantage of. ? Overall, it became evident that the teams are on a promising path. Regular feedback loops and adaptability are the key to a successful path. And the most important thing: courage pays off! Brussels is buzzing with youngsters eager to fulfill their passions and discover new talents, yet many still face significant challenges in navigating the artistic and socio-cultural sector. To address this, we are collaborating with partners such as Ancienne Belgique - AB, Muntpunt, Entree, TIMISS, and Tweeperenboom cv to create a robust network that supports these emerging talents, thanks to the European Social Fund (ESF) (Europa WSE). A key focus of our initiative is to develop an effective governance and decision-making structure within a comprehensive learning ecosystem. By working closely with Tweeperenboom, we aim to establish a solid foundation that not only enhances our operational framework but also ensures that the network can adapt to the evolving needs of young creatives. Establishing a clear governance structure is essential for effective decision-making within the network. It allows us to create transparent processes, foster collaboration among partners, and ensure that the interests of young talents are prioritized. This approach will help us build a strong, supportive community that empowers young people in their creative journeys.
