From the perspective of an LMS Administrator of six years, (in Cornerstone, Litmos, and Relias) the challenges, rewards, and fun are what makes the position fulfilling. The challenges are daily and range from determining how to best utilize the system in allowable, strategic ways to keeping up with the ever-present updates, course offerings, and continuous improvements. And making sure that all employees are kept abreast of system features that are available to them is another piece of the puzzle. The position is rewarding by requiring problem-solving for various requests. This includes options for training like building content, setting up online training plans and even instructor-led training, all of which assist colleagues with reaching their individual training goals. A fun aspect of it stems from learning new features and determining how they can be implemented seamlessly to improve the end-users' experience in the LMS while mitigating system and user errors. Whether utilizing an LMS to provide new hire training, required annual training, to record external training or to take skill training, I've found that the various systems do an amazing job of presenting training and keeping everything together.
