You're installing Self Tapping screws wrong! Do you ever find yourself struggling to drive your screws effectively? Are they frequently at an angle or just not seated corrected? This is because Self Tapping screws REQUIRE a predrilled hole prior to installation. Tapping screws get their name due to their ability to "tap" threads in an existing hole. Are you, like countless others, confusing these with Self Drilling Screws? Self Tapping Screws do not have a drill point and do not "drill" their own hole. The "TAP" holes only. Do you need Self Tapping screws for your next project? Anchor bolt (a fastener) When the mechanical components are installed on the concrete foundation, the J-shaped and L-shaped ends of the bolts are embedded in the concrete. Anchor bolts can be divided into fixed anchor bolts, movable anchor bolts, expansion anchor bolts and bonding anchor bolts. According to different shapes, it is divided into L-shaped embedded bolts, 9-shaped embedded bolts, U-shaped embedded bolts, welding embedded bolts and bottom plate embedded bolts.

Bulges and Depressions in Storage Tank Floor Plates Bottom plates are generally rectangular plates 6mm thick, lap welded by a fillet weld on the topside only. Due to distortion caused by welding of the bottom plates, bulges and depressions will always be present in the bottom after construction. When the tank is filled with liquid the bulges tend to?disappear as the bottom plates are pressed flat on the foundation. The centre of the tank bottom will always settle approximately 50% more than the periphery.? When the composition and thickness of the soil layers under the tank vary, unequal soil settlements will occur resulting in bulges and depressions in the tank bottom. When the deformations are formed gradually, without sharp edges, over a large area, the tank bottom will follow the pattern of the settled foundation so that the bottom plates will be adequately supported. Consequently, these bulges and deformations present no risk for a failure of the bottom welds. However, when bulges are formed and not filled with foundation material (voids) there is a risk of rippling when the tank is filled and the liquid contained, presses the bottom plate downwards. Repair by cutting-out and patching or by cutting and flattening is recommended if the depth-to-width ratio of the void exceeds 1:15. #oil #storage #tank #vessel #bottom #floor #bulge #inspection #maintenance #process #safety #integrity #mechanical #repair #terminal #hazards #risk #welding #learning #engineering

There ya have it folks... It's safe to say that choosing subpar rigging equipment is like shackling your employees to an unsafe work environment. The best way to keep your people safe is to pick equipment and products from a reputable manufacturer that actually cares about the safety of those using the product. So how do you know which one to choose? These are some things to look for: ?? Material: The product's quality begins with the material's quality. Look for high-grade steel and always ask which mill the steel comes from so you know exactly which material was used. ?? Closed-die Forging: This is essential for superior grain flow in the steel which gives accurate dimensions and consistent performance, plus I personally love the raised lettering for easy reading of critical safety information like the Working Load Limit (WLL). ?? Heat Treat: This is where the magic happens! By heating, quenching, and then heating a second time, the shackle becomes tough to resist fracture and ultimately gets its ductility and other important performance criteria. Ductility allows the shackle to stretch instead of breaking – an early overload warning indicator to keep everyone safe in the field. ?? Crosby shackles have been engineered and manufactured with safety in mind for many decades. When lives are on the line, you want to trust the best—and that’s Crosby. Flanges Demystified: A Quick Guide to Piping Connections Flanges play a crucial role in the world of pipelines, but not all flanges are created equal. Here’s a simple breakdown: 1?? Threaded Flange – No welding required! Screws onto pipes for low-pressure systems. 2?? Socket Weld Flange – Perfect for small, high-pressure pipes. Just insert and weld. 3?? Blind Flange – Closes pipes for maintenance or testing. Strong and versatile. 4?? Weld Neck Flange – Built for high pressure. Welded for strength and stress reduction. 5?? Slip-On Flange – Easy to install for low-pressure systems. Just slide and weld! 6?? Lap Joint Flange – For frequent disassembly and alignment tweaks. Team it with a stub end. 7?? Reducing Flange – Joins pipes of different sizes seamlessly. 8?? Plate Flange – Lightweight and cost-effective for low-pressure jobs. 9?? Expander Flange – Need to upsize your pipe? This one’s for you. ?? Weldo Flange – Combines strength with connection to branch pipes. 1??1?? Elbow Flange – Saves space by combining a flange and an elbow. 1??2?? Orifice Flange – For flow measurement, complete with pressure taps. Each flange has a purpose, a story, and a specific place in piping systems. Which one do you work with most often? #Installation_of_Pumps: The procedure of installation depends upon whether the pump is to be mounted horizontal or vertical. Most pumps to be mounted horizontally are supplied by the manufacturers as a wholesome, fully assembled unit. However, pumps to be mounted vertically are supplied as sub-assemblies. For the installation of these pumps, the proper sequence of assembly has to be clearly understood from the manufacturer's drawings. The installation of a pump should proceed through five stages in the following order: i. Preparing the foundation and locating the foundation bolts. ii. Locating the pump on the foundation bolts, however, resting on levelling wedges, which permits not only easy levelling but also space for filling in the grout later on. iii. Levelling the pump. iv. Applying grouting. v. Performing alignment. YouTube:https://lnkd.in/gSSqzq9a Instagram:https://lnkd.in/gmF4KwRU Linkedin:https://lnkd.in/gpAQANM8 Newsletter:https://lnkd.in/gMFUNth5
