Some insightful analysis on how tariffs work (or don't) and what they are. "If tariffs are chosen to help pay for extending the TCJA, let’s hope they are only a steppingstone to a more rational approach to deficit reduction. After all, history tells us that the adoption of border-adjustable value added taxes was driven in large part to replace clunky assemblages of excise taxes. Perhaps economically damaging tariffs will ultimately leave our leaders with no other option but to consider border-adjustable value added taxes. (As Winston Churchill said, “You can always count on the Americans to do the right thing after they have tried everything else.”)"

I see some things in Taft-Hartley that may give the current Administration pause to invoke. Strike-breaking, anti-Communism, and it takes some stones. Nothing neither the POTUS nor the Candidate-in-Chief VPOTUS have. "The Taft–Hartley Act prohibited?jurisdictional strikes,?wildcat strikes,?solidarity or political strikes,?secondary boycotts, secondary and mass?picketing,?closed shops, and monetary donations by unions to federal political campaigns. It also required union officers to sign non-communist affidavits with the government.?Union shops?were heavily restricted, and states were allowed to pass?right-to-work laws?that ban agency fees. Furthermore, the executive branch of the federal government could obtain legal strikebreaking?injunctions?if an impending or current strike imperiled the national health or safety." National emergency provisions "...?Under this section, if the president determines that an actual or threatened lockout affects all or a substantial part of an industry engaged in interstate or foreign "trade, commerce, transportation, transmission, or communication" and that the occurrence or continuation of a strike or lockout would "imperil the national health or safety," the President may empanel a?board of inquiry?to review the issues and issue a report. Upon receiving the report, the president may direct the?U.S. Attorney General?to seek an injunction from a?federal court.?If a court enters an?injunction, then a strike by workers or a lockout by employers is suspended for an 80-day period; employees must return to work while management and unions must "make every effort to adjust and settle their differences"?with the assistance of the?Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.?Presidents have invoked this provision 37 times. In 2002, President?George W. Bush?invoked the law in connection with the employer lockout of the?International Longshore and Warehouse Union?during negotiations with West Coast shipping and stevedoring companies.?This was the first successful invocation of the emergency provisions since President?Richard M. Nixon?intervened to halt a longshoremen's strike in 1971." Anti-communism "The amendments required union leaders to file affidavits with the?United States Department of Labor?declaring that they were not supporters of the?Communist Party?and had no relationship with any organization seeking the "overthrow of the United States government by force or by any illegal or unconstitutional means" as a condition to participating in NLRB proceedings." #tariffs #longshoremen #righttowork #nationalhealthandsafety

The man is BRILLIANT: Trump just gave a masterclass on tariffs on Dave Ramsey. He breaks down a lesson on William McKinley’s success with tariffs. Then he goes on to argue that the only reason we now fund our government with an income tax instead of tariffs is because of corrupt politicians. REPOST and amplify his voice!! #thinblueline #lawenforcement

A way to: 1. Keep businesses in America which will reduce costs on our own goods; 2. Increase national revenue, diminishing income tax; 3. Pay off our national debt, reducing inflation.

Trump is EXACTLY right!!!...Not too long ago- the Germans were the leaders in producing Christmas ornaments- the Chinese started producing them by hand with cheap labor..put the Germans out of business..then came in and bought the German automatic equipment off the auction block. This unfair tactic has been replicated by the Chinese over and over again. The loss of your manufacturing base is a National Security threat to any nation. Manufacturing has a multiplier effect on the economy as it can support 3- 5 service positions.(Competition is great as your only as strong as your nearest competitor.) HOWEVER- unfair competition in Chinese State owned companies with almost slave like wages in regulatory/environmentally/unsafe working conditions producing poor quality products with sub standard materials is not ok.This a where a tariff needs to be imposed to the level the playing field in terms of manufacturing in line with accepted practices.(The Chinese as communists do not recognize/respect patents/proprietary processes but as newly minted capitalists - they can sell/profit off these stolen ideas. ) The Chinese have enough unemployed/ underemployed workers to take every manufacturing job in the USA/ Europe/Canada - that IS their plan.

Do some research for yourself about how our government operated for nearly one hundred fifty years without any income tax. The plot on how to drain the pockets of Americans was hatched by super wealthy people like J.P. Morgan and John D. Rockefeller in 1913. Part of the plot included the establishment of the "Federal Reserve" to maintain control over your money. Stop and think just how many more ways we have had taxes imposed upon us in a never ending onslaught of ways to pick our pockets. If Trump can use tariffs to reduce our tax burden, would anyone be opposed to that?

#Finance101... Tariffs have become a buzzword this election cycle, so it's important that you know how they work. This graphic is simple, but illustrates a key point, tariffs are taxes that are assessed on imports and added to the price, hence they're directly paid by the consumer.
