Do not pay $2000 for a conference as an RBT. You are being robbed. For the hardworking RBT, the promise of ABA conferences may glitter like a golden opportunity—but the reality often lacks luster. These events are frequently designed with the masterminds of ABA… BCBAs, leaving the RBT in the audience with content that soars over their day-to-day needs. Moreover, a whisper of concern often breezes through the conference halls about speaker bias. Questions linger if the high-flying leaders tout trends over truths, perhaps prioritizing their pet methodologies or the latest fad over solid, universally applicable practices. When you factor in the steep costs against the backdrop of sessions that sometimes only skim the surface of an RBT’s practical challenges, it's no surprise that many wonder if the juice is worth the squeeze. In a nutshell, these conferences may have the glitz and the glam. Still, for the RBT seeking to ground their practice in evidence and everyday applicability, the return on investment can seem as fuzzy as the fine print on a packed event itinerary.
