That's almost as cruel as hospitals keeping loved ones away from a hospitalized patient during Covid so they could die among strangers.
This is a shockingly tragic story. I hope someone follos though with holding the parent company and the subsidiary accountable for failing this man and - no doubt- countless others.

5 个月Sadly, this is not a new problem. I was a social worker and discharge planner 10 years ago for an urban psychiatric hospital. There were too many patients whose insurance networks had almost no actual providers that I could find off the lists provided by the insurers (especially psychiatrists) who were: still at that location; not retired; still accepting the insurance in question or even that the listed phone number still worked! When frustrated patients complained to their in-hospitalist psychiatrist, I recall one of my doctors bluntly responding, "Don't blame me for the cheap insurance policy your employer (or spouse's employer) purchased for this year!" Just saying...
