The Notwithstanding Clause pre-emptively applied in Quebec Bills 21 and 96 erases human rights and is destroying Canadian and Quebec democracy. Please support The Task Force's Quebec Superior Court challenge to Bill 96 and our soon joining the existing English Montreal School Board and Fédération autonome de l'enseignement challenge to Bill 21 at the Supreme Court of Canada. The use of the Notwithstanding Clause should never be normalized if Quebec and Canada aspire to be real democracies. The current Nigerian curriculum did not adequately prepare me for the job market, neither does it still adequately prepare present day students for the local and global workplace. In my opinion, the current curriculum is outdated and needs to be updated with 21st-century relevant content in a way that supports learners (from the very onset of schooling) to develop knowledge, values and soft skills that prepare them for the future of work. Presently, education (using the Nigerian curriculum) is fast loosing its appeal to the average Nigerian student because the content is not intellectually engaging, nor does it equip them with the skills that they need to thrive. Thus, the goal of schooling is now to pass exams. A lot of our economic and societal issues, such as unemployment and the slow pace of national development are traceable to current gaps in our curriculum. Friends, I'm reaching out to you to spread the word about the needs of the AURA organization's project (Assistant for Ukrainian Refugees in Austin). The LAURA program (Language Assistance for Ukrainian Refugees in America) has been successfully providing a FREE service for the past 9 months – online lessons for adult Ukrainians. The aim is to help them quickly learn English and smoothly transition into their new society. America, a country of immigrants! It's no secret that English language proficiency is a direct key to employment and self-sufficiency! The main goal I pursued when creating this program for newly arrived Ukrainians, forced to leave our country due to the ongoing war, is to provide a knowledge base enabling them to achieve independence and self-sufficiency through securing better job opportunities! Basic things such as navigating the city, supermarkets, lease agreements, getting a driver's license, seeking medical help, enrolling a child in school, etc., become stress points and sources of disappointment for foreigners. Nothing can be worse than feeling helpless as an adult! The only thing worse is losing your home and native land, as many of us from Eastern Ukraine have already experienced. I'm from Eastern Ukraine myself! Today, the program is in need of financial support. Currently, the LAURA program has 80 Ukrainian students residing across America! Additionally, 250 people are on the waiting list to join the program! $4 per day is the amount that goes to provide education for 1 refugee student in our program today. Just imagine how affordable it is to help the program fulfill its mission for each and every one of you! Every single child has a right to learn ?? But right now none of the 625,000 Palestinian children in Gaza can go to school. Hundreds of school buildings have been damaged or destroyed, and those that are still standing can't function. Children in Gaza are being deprived of a lifetime of educational opportunities. A long period without learning significantly jeopardises children’s futures, disrupts their sense of stability and normality, and contributes to stress, anxiety, and uncertainty. As soon as there is full and safe humanitarian access, we're ready to set up temporary learning spaces and repair damaged schools so children can continue to learn.
