As the year winds down, we've been taking stock of what we've accomplished in our first 12 months and mapping out where we want to go in 2025. Looking back, it’s been one heck of a year: - We’ve hit 6 figures in turnover... something we’re incredibly proud of. - Welcomed Miranda Haston to the team full-time, and honestly, she’s been an absolute game-changer. - Collaborated with some top-notch contractors who’ve helped us deliver great results. - Got our foot in the door for our clients with opportunities to tender for companies like Weston Homes, Berkeley Homes, Walker Construction, Gilbert Ash, and The Kemnal Academies Trust. But as anyone in business knows, standing still isn’t an option. Here’s where we’re heading in 2025: - Helping even more companies secure bigger, better contracts. - Growing our own team... finding the right people to push us further. - Bringing on a VA to claw back some time for Joe and I to work on the big-picture stuff. - Hosting more charity days to give back in ways that matter. - And, a personal goal for me getting better at golf. From 5pm tonight I will be out on the streets for the #CEOSleepout Why do I care so much about this cause? 1. Every night, roughly 1 in 200 Australians find themselves without a safe, secure or affordable place to sleep. 2. One third of people experience homelessness in Australia are under 18 years old. 3. 1 in 2 people experiencing homelessness are women. 4. Only 6% of people experiencing homelessness are sleeping 'rough' 5. Majority of people experiencing homelessness are the 'hidden homeless'; couch surfing, sleeping in cars, living in overcrowded dwellings, caravans, motels.... 6. Many people who experience homelessness do in fact 'have a job' and are escaping domestic violence, lack of rental afforability and cost of living. 7. The experience of homelessness can have significant effects on an individual's self confidence, mental health, emotional wellbeing and relationships. 8. Homelessness does not discriminate: Homelessness in Australia is caused by domestic and family violence, sudden life triggers such as job loss, illness or the loss of a loved one, or the lack of affordable and social housing.

Greattitudes 1214: Aside from every once in a blue moon with The Hubby, it’s been 30 years since I handled firearms. Remember - I used to be in the army. Surgery and radiation for cancer have certainly compromised my right arm… Even though I’ve always been much better with stamina and lower body strength, I definitely should start doing some weights again or modified push-ups, LOL I had a lot more fun than I expected. I also felt the most kinship in this event out of all the veterans chamber events I have attended. Really felt like family, even though I only knew 3 people - everyone else I’d met for the first time, in person or otherwise (mostly, the latter). In the end, I went ahead and bought family membership at the club. While there are ranges much closer to my home and The Hubby shoots and kids have been wanting to learn, my experience made me decide to choose this one. Not sure if each monthly veterans chamber co-sponsored event there is ticketed but it’s not much more to buy membership than a ticket - and the prices are affordable. I made a lot of new connections, inc. with a couple of nonprofits whose important work - a lot of it out of the pockets of their founders - should be made known to more potential donors so they don’t have to work extra jobs to fund it. And, finally, what luck that one of my veteran friends is, like me, a righthanded person who is left-eye-dominant. I was able to use his rifle! Also, my veteran friends, and the other instructors and experienced shooters were so helpful, I stopped feeling intimidated immediately. And their joy in spreading the sport, especially to those who are completely new or out of practice, is inspiring and infectious. Probably, there are people in some of my circles who may be uncomfortable, maybe even shocked, with my stance - pun intended - on this. But, as with any tool… be it a pen or words, a knife or sword, a gift of eloquence in speech or writing, or an ability to channel energy… what it does depends on the person using it.

"Let's hope the industry doesn't retreat back into the dark ages." Last week the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) announced it was ‘discontinuing’ after Elon Musk’s X filed a lawsuit against its parent organisation, the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA). The non-profit GARM initiative intended to help members avoid advertising on harmful websites, had limited resources and was staffed by only two full-time employees.
