After my keynote speech at CIBSE ASHRAE Technical Symposium last month, I wanted to share my thoughts on the changes affecting our industry with you all. Ofgem is coming and we will need to pay attention to the implications of having a regulator in a previously unregulated space. You are able to read my article below discussing how I think our industry is going to be affected and what heat network designers, operators, and consultants will need to do to prepare.
Good news Casey. Government intervention is, sadly needed. Im glad all registers will be mandatory. Take Flow rate, a trick to keep complaints down is dial up pump speeds. High flow rate ensures heat but wears pumps out early, uses extra electricity to run them that way and returns too much hot water back to plant rooms. boilers never condense. They run carbon dirty burning too much filthy gas. Basically it's like driving around the M25 at 70 mph in second gear. Maintainers do this a lot in London and most Landlords and residents don't know what's happening. Soon, they will and the Regulator too.
Great article. You’re presuming a bit too Much that the Regulator has the internal expertise / Competence to start on Day 1 which is unlikely. But yr warnings to the industry are profetic
I think this is a great piece of work Casey.
Good article!
Decarbonising homes at scale ????
1 年Great piece. Sorry to ask in case very obvious, but you mention “all six registers, not just kilowatt hours”. What are the six?
