Your product is much bigger than you think. As a "product guy", I apply a product lens to most things, including travel. Recently my wife and I went to Pittsburgh. We loved it, and had a really great "user experience". But I was talking yesterday to a colleague about Pittsburgh and one of the "product features" that had really defined my memory of that trip was how the city had really embraced Fred Rogers as the patron saint of that city, and it extended into their downtown street signs in a way that beautifully sums up who Mr Rogers was. I'm 100% convinced that simply seeing these signs makes you 5% nicer as you're walking the streets of Pittsburgh - at least for a first time visitor. No urban planner would traditionally think about street signs as part of the city's "product experience", but it absolutely has a positive impact, and a massive ROI when you consider the trivial costs of this. Sure, there's a much longer journey to ensure your company/city truly is "kind", but love this as a way to communicate to your users that "this is the vision we have, the tribe we're trying to build, and the direction we're heading... who's in?". Is making we think about how we can better communicate this stuff in RWDI Ventures's products. People associate me with two things, AMG’s and Flex Spaces. Here's what they don't know… I actually started my real estate journey in other unsuccessful real estate ventures such as Airbnb, Residential home flipping and Multifamily real estate. Although I made some money in all of them, the amount of effort and energy I was putting in those projects was just not worth it for me. I was looking to scale and grow in something that was truly scalable and did not require a huge team or massive operations. This is when I turned to industrial real estate and then later into Flex Spaces specifically. So, since November, I've been dipping my toes into the world of construction, remodeling, and interior design. I swapped back-to-back meetings for blueprint & mood board reviews, becoming a partner at ATX Custom Remodel. ?What started as a way to dip my toes into something new quickly turned into a full dive — and now I’m all in! I’m learning something new every day, from choosing the perfect tile to navigating the challenges that come with transforming spaces. Turns out, balancing a remodel budget is just as critical as those quarterly reviews! ?? The best part? I get to bring my problem-solving skills and love for interior design to life, helping clients create spaces that are not only functional but truly beautiful. But the story doesn’t end here, and I’ve also got another exciting project up my sleeve. My next big endeavor? It's pretty hard to contain excitement about an upcoming launch. Many years ago, CASE gave a presentation at GSAPP and iirc, it's where I first saw their slogan Buildings = Data. Such a simple rallying cry around the potential of BIM. Fast forward to WeWork and it was awesome to see some of this come to fruition with the internal tools that were built to connect various stakeholders across the company -- from GTM, to community teams, and design / development. The use of scanning during due diligence to negotiate better TI and verify square footage for leases also helped design teams start on the 50 yard line, thereby compressing timelines. Seeing this up close was incredibly inspiring. At Integrated Projects, we're pursuing similar aims. Not only are we unlocking powerful value from as-builts for A/E/C and real estate teams during due diligence and construction, we're also about to launch the first of its kind product that brings together two very different processes into one very valuable result for building owners. Real estate acquisitions will never be the same.
