Though Case Western Reserve University alumni Michael and Betsy Cherkasky never studied science or engineering, they chose to give back to their alma mater by donating $1 million to the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Building (ISEB). #CWRU couldn't be more grateful for the significant impact their gift will have on the university! https://lnkd.in/eBgbKdH2

New NACC Member Research by Elise Kieffer, PhD from Murray State University ??? This article provides background information on the establishment of an #endowment that serves specifically to provide experiential #learning opportunities for students in and around the university. This case study may serve as a guide for higher education programs in the #nonprofit discipline to promote both active #philanthropy and learning for students. This article provides an examination of student reflections following their participation in an endowment funded experiential learning opportunity with a hope of promoting this teaching method in other nonprofit and #philanthropic educational programs. The results of this analysis assist in the development of greater understanding into how the experiential learning component affected student reflections from their time in NLS 305. Additionally, analysis reveals how students understood and interpreted the real-world impact of their #grantmaking experience, in comparison to traditional classroom practice exercises. Good 4 Thought ??::- Particularly even when a small step of FAITH no matter what the background -:) The hilly suburbs or the remote Oasis can still make a difference with "Thought Stimulants" & Resources that could Drive some Philanthropic Activities & Initiatives. As its AIMED at::.. Fostering confidence, perseverance, tolerance & integrity; to enhance communication skills; to embrace creativity; to encourage teamwork; and to promote an open-minded and outward-looking mentality so that boys are ready to make a really positive contribution to their wider community. "Eton has benefited from a long history of philanthropy right back to its very foundation.? We flourish today thanks to the generosity of Old Etonians, parents and friends and we will advance further as that tradition grows. The gifts we receive help us to develop in so many areas.? They underpin our?transformative Bursaries Programme?and enable us to develop powerful partnerships outside the walls of Eton.? Those walls themselves have also been strengthened, restored and renewed, ensuring that our facilities provide an appropriate setting for the world-class teaching that takes place within. All this is founded on the strength of support we receive from so many Old Etonians, parents and friends.? Through gifts at all levels, both to the endowment and to current programmes, our community of benefactors enables so much of what makes Eton special. Philanthropy is also key to the delivery of our new initiative, the Eton Star Schools Programme, through which we aim to share our resources and expertise to support the great task of reducing educational inequality in the UK.? It is a bold challenge which will help others but strengthen us too – an outcome for the benefit of all.? You can read more about each of our key priority areas below. I hope you will join us." ?? Thrilled to share a moment from today's mixer for Southern Methodist University President's Scholars, where I had the honor of meeting President R. Gerald Turner. ?? In a gathering of inspiration and visionary discussions, President Turner shared insights into SMU's ambitious "Road to R1" campaign—a strategic journey to elevate SMU to an R1: Doctoral Universities - Very High Research Activity status. This initiative is a testament to SMU's commitment to excellence in Research at SMU and education and a beacon guiding the way toward groundbreaking discoveries and innovations. For me, as an undergraduate, the "Road to R1" campaign is more than an institutional milestone; it represents a future filled with unparalleled opportunities for research, learning, and personal growth. Being part of an institution on the cusp of achieving R1 status means being at the forefront of change—where my academic pursuits and research can contribute to meaningful impacts on society and the global community. I am incredibly proud to be an SMU President's Scholar during this transformative period. The journey to R1 is a journey we are all part of, and it fills me with excitement for what the future holds, not just for SMU but for all of us who are part of this vibrant community. If anyone wants to donate to SMU, please consider donating to support research at SMU. #SMUProud #RoadToR1 #PresidentsScholars #FutureLeaders #HigherEducation #ResearchExcellence #LeadershipDevelopment #InnovationInEducation #AcademicAchievement

Today marks the start of Leave a Legacy Month. Let's take some time to explore what planned giving truly is. ???Unlocking the Future: The Power of Planned Giving in Ontario’s Post-Secondary Institutions??? As we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of education, there’s a quiet force that has the potential to transform lives long after we’ve left the classroom.?Planned giving, often overlooked, is a remarkable way to leave a lasting legacy—one that echoes through generations of learners. What is planned giving??It’s the thoughtful act of including a charitable gift in your will. By allocating a portion of your estate to support education, you become a beacon of opportunity for future scholars. Whether it’s establishing scholarships, funding research, or enhancing campus facilities, your legacy becomes intertwined with the very fabric of learning. ???Why consider planned giving? Impact Beyond a Lifetime: Imagine the ripple effect—your generosity shaping minds, igniting passions, and empowering students to reach for the stars. Accessible to All: You don’t need vast wealth to make a difference. Every contribution counts, whether it’s a small percentage or a specific dollar amount. Inspiring Others: When you share your commitment to planned giving, you inspire others to join this noble cause. Together, we can build bridges to knowledge and opportunity. ?? Let’s envision a future where education thrives, where dreams are nurtured, and where the torch of knowledge burns brightly. Consider making a gift in your will, and let your legacy echo through the hallowed halls of Ontario’s institutions. #MayisLeaveALegacyMonth #PlannedGiving #EducationMatters #LegacyOfLearning #PlantingtheSeed #LeaveALastingLegacy *AI-Generated Image

Congrats to all the Quinsigamond Community College scholarship recipients! Along with other directors of the QCC Foundation, I was thrilled to be in attendance to witness this incredible moment Tuesday night. A massive part of our work at the QCC Foundation is awarding scholarships to students who deserve and need it. With Mass Reconnect and Free Community College being passed in our state, it begs the question: If community college is free, why do QCC students need scholarships? Tuition is only ONE hurdle of many for our community college students. 11% of QCC students are homeless. 54% are in an insecure housing situation. 49% have very low food insecurity and go hungry on a constant basis. Many are full time workers and single parents who have no access to childcare. Many rely on public transportation or are one car repair away from not making it to class. When it comes to creating access to fair, equitable education, we need to think about the whole human and what they need. While tuition *could* be covered in this instance, there are so many other barriers in the way of our community members getting an education they deserve. That’s why the work we do here at the QCC Foundation is critical. An investment in our community college is an investment in Worcester. The vast majority of our students stay in Worcester County and contribute to it’s economic success, yet are overlooked when it comes to having their needs met by philanthropy. Ceremonies like these are more than just a formality, they demonstrate what is possible for our future when people are given a chance. I look forward to reviewing scholarship applications in the coming weeks and for what else is to come in 2025. If you are interested to learn more about our work at the Foundation, feel free to reach out to me or Jorgo Gushi with any questions! The journey continues my friends. #communitycollege #philanthropy #foundations

A new report from Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) The Pew Charitable Trusts recommends ways to encourage public-impact research, including better aligning research incentives and developing new quality standards. https://lnkd.in/gcVjMjsF Public- and community-engaged scholarship is often marginalized within higher education. And it's higher ed's own structures, like tenure and academic publishing, that can disincentivize such work. https://lnkd.in/gfrAhXkv #highereducation #highered #research #scholarship #publicscholarship #publicimpactresearch
