Last Saturday, I attended the MCTF Malaysia Career & Training Fair at Mid Valley and I would like to share my takeaways in terms of the commendable aspects and rooms for improvement: ?? Commendable areas : 1. Sustainability theme was a highlight especially with 90% employers opting for paperless processes and using QR codes for resume deposits, company info and social media pages. 2. Quite a number of employers engaged candidates with interactive activities, boosting their employer branding and leaving a positive impression of the company’s environment. 3. Many employers invested in the merchandise to give to candidates which demonstrated the commitment to build a good reputation and connections with potential hires. ?? Areas for improvement : 1. Some employers focused more on getting the candidates to vote for the “Employer of the Choice” awards rather than promoting their job opportunities and missed out on engaging with candidates effectively. 2. Insufficient staff at booths that left the candidates unattended and I even found a completely empty booth with just their merchandise on their booth. 3. Many candidates arrived with only hard copies of resumes despite clear instructions from MCTF email blast to keep digital copies.
