Supporting future champions in West Dunbartonshire??♂? Persimmon West Scotland has donated ￡3,000 to West Dunbartonshire Amateur Swimming Club to help foster lifelong participation in swimming and build confidence among its 170 young members, aged 7 to 18. The club, run entirely by volunteers, provides daily training sessions for swimmers of all abilities – from beginners to Scottish Champions. Many members come from areas of high deprivation, making the club’s commitment to keeping costs low vital for ensuring access to the sport. Our donation will help fund the club’s annual championships and awards evening, keeping the event free for all members. It will also contribute to training qualifications for volunteer poolside helpers, paving the way for the next generation of coaches and ensuring the club’s sustainable growth. #PersimmonHomes

This partnership offers a unique opportunity for a charity with national reach to collaborate with the top league of English rugby and its 10 member clubs across the Gallagher Premiership, the Premiership Rugby Cup, and the U18s Academy League. This "Movember" (our November Mustache), we're combining the spirit of rugby with a commitment to men's health and community support. We are raising funds and collecting rugby equipment to send to schools in Venezuela, where rugby is growing but resources are scarce. Our goal is to gather 50-60 rugby balls to help bring the game to more kids and inspire the next generation of players with a sport based on values and principles that also support kids on developing soft skills – our core focus. To be able to commit to this goal, we would like to collect 2.000,00€ to buy these rugby balls and cover the logistic expenses, and with your support, reach this amount by the end of November!! Through this effort, we not only support rugby projects in schools but also raise awareness for men's health, as Movember encourages us all to focus on well-being and awareness. The intention of this post is to shine a light on young female athletes (like Lili in the video below) striving to play professional sport; but first, some context. I’m blessed with 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls, all of whom have played sport, 3 at youth representative level (football, futsal, cricket), and one who played semi professionally in NZ’s top ?? tier. I’ve coached girls and mixed teams, including a female U15 team to New Zealand Football's national futsal title. I’ve played competitive junior, youth and senior football, plus cricket, tennis, rugby, and Aussie Rules. I’m a fan of the Wellington Phoenix Football Club, Carlton Football Club, Warringah Rugby Club and along with all of that, I’ve been a lifelong fan of the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. It’s heartwarming to see some of the players I’ve coached now playing for their National team and in professional ?? environments. I’d like to think somewhere along the way I had a positive influence. So, as a father of 2 daughters, a coach of female players, and as a fan of all sports, how good is it to see young Lili in the video? Lili is a northern beaches local, a fan of Manly Warringah Sea Eagles - and now a representative rugby league ?? player, chasing her field of dreams with the club she has supported all her life. I understand the sacrifices young athletes like Lili and their families make to chase a dream. It takes time, money, love, and the expertise of good coaches to provide holistic support around young athletes - to grow them to be good people. Only a small percentage will play professionally, but with the right mindset, the young person will have grown through the experience, whatever their eventual career. WHY WE DO IT We have run the Sweepstake for many years and the best guess we have is that this is the 13th year in a row that we have raised funds for charity. On average we raise circa ￡2500 / Year via the Sweepstake so in total the Sweepstake is estimated to have raised circa ￡30,000 for different charities. TIPS FOR YOUR PREDICTIONS The favourites for this year’s 6 Nations will be France or could it be Ireland or Scotland or England. Any of these four could, based on recent form, be victorious however I think France will just do it. Wales have not won in a game over a year and Italy do not quite have the fire power needed. Ireland could run France close, if Ireland beat France in Round 3 at home the title could be Dublin bound. England are not a settled side and seem unsure of how they want to play. Scotland look very good and have one of the best sides that they have had in a long time. Perhaps they will be the surprise of 2025? The bookies at this stage seem to have Ireland as slight favourites just ahead of France but wouldn’t it fantastic if Scotland could win by playing really attractive rugby and bringing back memories of 1990 when they won the Grand Slam.
