As the drive for greater integrity within the voluntary carbon market continues, it is becoming more important for projects to gain a deeper understanding of the social impact that their projects are having on the communities they engage with. ?? This drive for greater understanding of community impact won't stop with the voluntary carbon market either, it will flow over into the emerging biodiversity crediting market and across all types of nature-based solutions. ?? Our social impact tool is one way to further the understanding of the social impact that projects have on a community. By calculating a monetary value of the impacts experienced by the communities, our tool is able to communicate a deeper understanding of the social impact directly with investors. We all have a thing that makes the most sense for us to want to build a sustainable future. Maybe you're in an arid place with little potable water that you'd like to drink in the future. Maybe you're in a place where electricity costs are high, and alternative energies may help you. Maybe you are from a place where crops were changed out and now you're seeing soil degradation. COLLABORATION: THE POWERHOUSE OF CHANGE Sometimes a positive story comes up that just blows your mind. Why is THIS story so amazing? 1. It shows the all-conquering power of positive, collective collaboration across all community sectors. Importantly this included the local government. 2. Normally it's younger generations that encourage change while the elders stick to their conservative ways. In this case all generations on the island supported the changes. 3. New industries have been developed that enable the changes to remain in place in the long term. 4. The entire population of the island, including its wildlife on land and sea, have benefited. In other words biodiversity has been protected. We can all learn from this story. What are your thoughts?
