Newsweek’s cover from two weeks ago captures the state of technology and healthcare today.?And this quote from Paulo Nigro, CEO of Hospital Sírio-Libanês in Sao Paulo, Brazil sums it up well – “The hospital of the future Is a hospital driven by data … the [Covid] crisis has accelerated this process of using data to make decisions." Having just come from HIMSS 2024 (the largest health tech conference in the world with over 30,000 attendees and more than 1,000 companies on exhibit) I can confirm it’s all about AI and data. It's an exciting time to be in healthcare. There's a lot of hype out there for sure, but the stakes are high and healthcare consumers deserve every bit of innovation we can bring to the industry. And here’s one more quote from this issue of Newsweek and Gianrico Farrugia, MD, President and CEO, Mayo Clinic – "Risk number one is that health care doesn't embrace AI, and doesn't deliver what we need to deliver, which is better health care for all.”

"I firmly believe that if we want to build better solutions for our patients, we first need to listen to them—potentially all of them—and learn from their stories." This is how I started my presentation at Frontiers Health 2024 in Berlin and it’s a message I’m deeply passionate about. In today's fast-evolving healthcare landscape, we need to shift our focus to truly hearing the voices of our patients to drive real change. During my talk, I introduced the concept of large-scale AI-powered patient interviews as a transformative approach to gather insights directly from patients. Rather than relying solely on physicians who may filter information through their own experiences, we can now capture the full diversity of patient stories in a way that is more representative of the entire population. By mapping the patient journey in a granular and data-driven way, we can empower the life sciences industry to make more informed decisions that improve outcomes and enhance the patient experience. I'm excited to see how this methodology can reshape healthcare by ensuring that every patient’s voice is heard. What a wonderful opportunity again to re-connect with peers in the life science field, and engage in the discussions about ???????????????????? ?????? ???????????????????????? to support access to innovative healthcare solutions.?? ? ?????????????????????????? ?????? ???????????????????????????? were key words at this year's DIA conference embracing multi-disciplinary and future-proof approaches to advance healthcare. An important reminder came from patient representatives that this can only be achieved by ???????????????? ???????? ???????????????? ???? ?? ???????????????????? ??????, and this is not just a ticking the box excercise. ? It was encouraging to hear that ?????????? ???? ????????-?????????? ???????????????? is increasing through harmonisation of legislative landscape, establishment of standard rigorous methodologies and building on reliable use cases.? ? ?????????????????????? ???????????????????? ?????? ???? were definitely the topics creating a lot of excitement.
