If you don’t already know me, my name is Alexia Freeman, and I am a master's student at Harvard University conducting research for my thesis on sustainable behavior change. I am excited to announce a study in collaboration with The Carbonauts aimed at understanding how their “Sustainability Plan” workshop can foster short-term behavior change. This one-hour workshop educates participants on what comprises their carbon footprints and the most impactful areas to reduce their personal greenhouse gas emissions. I am seeking individuals who are willing to complete this workshop on November 21, 2024, from 9-10 AM PT (12-1 PM ET) to join this study. By participating, you will help evaluate the effectiveness of this intervention in promoting sustainable actions. This workshop will be offered for FREE. As a token of appreciation, all participants will be entered to win one of four $50 gift cards. What Participation Involves: You will be randomly assigned to either ? The test group: will complete the workshop in conjunction with a carbon footprint calculator assessment (used to understand personal greenhouse gas emissions) and an action plan (will be a means of identifying sustainable action goals and a timeline for completion). ? Or the control group which will not be given the intervention. If you are assigned to the control group, you will still have the option to take the workshop at the end of the study. Both the test group and control group will complete a 15-minute baseline survey to assess their current sustainability knowledge and behaviors as well as a 15-minute follow-up survey one month after the workshop to assess their sustainable behaviors, any barriers encountered, and any opportunities for motivation. At the completion of the final survey, an optional one-on-one Zoom interview will be available to discuss your experiences in more detail in order to enhance the depth of the study. Your involvement is entirely voluntary, and your responses will be kept confidential. If you're interested in contributing to this vital research, please contact me ([email protected]) by November 11, 2024! Your insights will be invaluable in shaping future sustainability initiatives. ?? #sustainability #researchstudy #behaviorchange #harvarduniversity #thecarbonauts #climateaction
