It's been a challenging 6 months. From losing a gig to having surgery to fix a sports injury, I'll admit that it hasn't looked like 2024 would be a great year for yours truly. But fight on we must! So I'm sending this out into the ether - if you or anyone you know of is hiring a Senior Writer, Content Marketer or Community Manager, I would love it if you could send along word. #JobSearch #CommunityManager #ContentMarketing #SeniorWriter

Storyteller | Award-Winning Senior Video Editor & Producer | Currently Podcast Video & Audio Editor @ The Asprey Group | Formerly @ The Liquid Light / Ads of Fire / The Creative District / Cultivator Labs
Finding good people is hard. And when you don’t have a production background, finding a great video editor can be even harder. As a business owner, of course you’d want to find the ever-illusive ‘fast, great & cheap’ editor (which I’d argue never existed). But here’s 3 realistic attributes that you should be looking for in any editor whether they’re a passionate rookie or a seasoned pro: Communicative: I’d trade all of the talent in the world for someone who answers their phone, keeps me in the loop and expresses their thoughts, ideas, needs or concerns. They’re your eyes on the ground so their feedback is crucial. Eager to Learn: Editing software is ever-changing. And with all of the AI tools that have emerged in recent years, you need someone who stays current in order to compete. Being coachable also falls into this category. Organized: This is the sleeper of the 3 and the hardest to measure for sure but without it, things can go terribly wrong. If you’re asking them to submit a sample project (something I’m sure to argue against in another post) ask them to also submit a screenshot of their file structure. You might not learn that they’re organized, but you’ll DEFINITELY learn if they aren’t. Look, speed is great. But it’s unsustainable. Consistency is the key. And making sure that your new editor has these three traits can help you build a consistent and productive workflow for your business. What am I missing? What traits do you think are most important when hiring a video editor? #videoediting #videoeditor #productionjobs #hiring #talent

I've been quiet on here for a while... I MIGHT change that soon, but I'm still deep into what the 'preneurs call "build mode." I think that's a bit silly, since we should be ABBing. (always be building.) For now, I want to be hiring. If you're in the media or content world, take a look at these new, full-time roles: Head of Brand and Content: lead the content team that's responsible for engaging 6m+ followers and 700,000+ newsletter subscribers. If viral social content is your bread and butter, this could be for you. Shooter / Editor: You know how to use a camera and edit what you shoot. Video Scriptwriter: In the cross-section of scriptwriting and viral short form video lives this role. If you love writing and figuring out what makes people stay watching a video, this is the role for you. More coming soon -- if you're a direct response copywriter, or live in the world of marketing and revenue ops for info product companies, stay tuned. Roles linked below. PS -- let me know if you want me to share my "build stories." I felt like I've learned another 100 years of lessons in the past 2 years, and haven't shared any of them. There's some WILD ones...

Dealing with hiring challenges post-COVID has been tough. More people are missing work, especially after the second COVID wave. The problem keeps getting worse every day, and it's even harder to hire those with less education. If you are hiring Gig workers you will face this a lot, and even though we have some good solutions, it's tricky because, well, we're dealing with humans. What do you think works best to handle these issues? #hiring #recruiters #hr #hiringalert
Founder at The Growth Square & Social Capital | Personal Brand-led business growth for Founders | LinkedIn Influencer-led GTM
A few days back I announced a challenge, where whoever would win would get ?20,000. What happened next will give you the reality check that you need. So a total of 500 people filled up the form. Out of that we selected around 300 people and told them to do an assignment. Out of that, guess how many people did it in the said deadline? (48 hours) 25. Rest were either late or didn’t do it. My problem with this is that I’ve read so many LinkedIn posts of people complaining that there aren’t many opportunities and that people don’t pay enough money etc etc But we did both. In fact we are even willing to hire 4-5 more content writers. The problem with this generation is that we’re all very lazy. And somehow we’ve convinced ourselves that being lazy is okay. Put in the work. All the success stories that you read online? They all put in the work. If you’re talented, there’s no way you won’t do well in life (unless of course if you don’t put it in the work) Any other founder relate to this? Is this a problem that only I’m seeing? #hiring #hiringalert

Keeping our signs FRESH ?? One of my favourite things to do as a business owner is our branding. Yet for some reason, the clinic is much harder. So for the first time in our 8years of business, we are hiring a copy writer! This time around we have struggled to define our niche, refine our specific values and describe what we do to people at networking events. Like, what does By Design do? We are a Physio clinic that wants to get people moving better, stronger and more aware. But isn’t that what every Physio clinic does? Don’t all Physios care about that stuff. I am learning that they don’t. Or they don’t know how. Or aren’t experienced in those fields. Or they don’t offer the same things as us. So I am very excited to put all of our actions and visions into words this week, and define the By Design brand. I know it’ll take a lot of the fog out of our next stage of business growth ?????? #lifebydesign #smallbusiness #physiotherapy

Content Manager & Strategist | Copywriter | Social Media & Digital Marketing Specialist | Instagram Growth Specialist | Outreach Marketing | Experienced in B2B, B2C, SaaS, Fintech, & EVs.
Content Manager is not a position to just give away randomly. If you're hiring for a Content Manager it means you are giving them responsibility for creating as well as managing content. If you still, as a stakeholder, want to re-check the content every time they write something, do not hire a manager. Hire a writer. If your Content Manager cannot call the shots, you're not giving them the perks that come with a manager role. You are only hiring a junior writer.

Please Recruiters learn to differentiate between Creative Roles. It’s high time. Graphic Designer, Content Writer, Copywriter, and Video Editor these are very similar yet very different roles. A person can be a Creative Specialist and Director who looks after all the creative doings of the firm on social media and the website. Still, he/she is not a Copywriter, Content Writer, or Graphic Designer. Knowing different skills and requirements of a job role are different. Don’t be confused. Content Writers can suggest creative ideas according to the content he/she is writing but that does not make them Video editors or Graphic designers. If a Job role requires a person to multi-task then please mention it in the JD itself with better pay. You can’t pay 20 for a job that requires a pay of at least 40-50. You can either sacrifice the Quality of the Content produced by a demotivated writer (multi-tasker for you) or Pay more for more work. Instead of hiring Content Writer hire a Content Specialist, Analyst, Creative Specialist, or even a Creative Consultant. #recruiters #hr #employers #RantOver #jobroles #opportunities #contentwriter #creator #creative #writing #creativecontentwriter #writer #designer #creativespecialist #creativedesigner #confusion #consultant #branding #advertising #thoughtprovoking #provoking #graphicdesigner #uiux #editor #videoeditor
