This is so true. The biggest issues are lack of knowledge in talent ID/roster construction, a lack of accountability for failure and a lack of incentive to improve (eg huge prize money or relegation). There’s not enough jeopardy in franchise cricket, and that’s one of its biggest problems right now.

Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots along with the Antigua Falcons built Cricket Teams that ignored the nuance associated with Building a Bowling Attack. As a result, both teams are struggling to control games. Antigua is playing with 3 Quality Bowlers while SKNP are playing with 2 Quality Bowlers. Both Teams are leaving 8 and 12 Overs largely unguarded. Antigua also avoided Building a High Quality and Deep Batting Lineup. Keeping in mind all the information and data we have today, I can’t help but wonder how this is happening. One of many reasons is the Poor Organizational Structure of Franchise Cricket. The Structure of Owner, Friends, Management, Coach, and Captain are blurred. It shouldn’t be that way in 2024. But it is. That’s why I never blame the players.
