Who Knew That guiding residency candidates would teach me as much as I teach them As the founder of Rezi Prep 360, a program dedicated to guiding aspiring pharmacy residency candidates through the intricate application process with personalized and expert mentorship I started this journey with the belief that I had valuable knowledge and insights to offer these candidates. Naturally, I assumed this would be a one-way relationship where they would gain from my expertise. However, I have been pleasantly surprised to discover that these talented individuals have, in turn, taught me so much and have significantly contributed to my growth both in business and within the profession. Here are a few key lessons they've reshaped my thinking about: 1- Mentorship is a Two-Way Street: It's not just about me imparting knowledge; it's about a mutual exchange of ideas, experiences, and learning. Many of the candidates over the years, through their unique life experiences, have taught me many valuable lessons that have helped me grow as an educator 2- Mentee Entitlement is real but so is resourcefulness: Every year, it always happens! I have a few candidates who think I am suppose to do more than guide them. In those instances, I am happy to remind them that this is not that type of party- LOL I have found that majority of candidates are resourceful, with fresh perspective and insight that is invigorating. 3- Goals versus purpose: I have learned that while many can clearly state their goals, the purpose often takes time to isolate. This has been my favorite part of our journey together. Helping each candidate discover who they are through reflection and objective interrogation of their goals has led to transformative breakthroughs. I invest a lot of time here with candidates because I want them confident and clear about their why. This is our BIG differentiator! 4- Tech Savvy: Thanks to my mentees, I've been introduced to incredible tools like Canva, Calendly, Prezi, and more, which have enhanced my workflow and productivity. At Rezi Prep 360, my passion is helping you share your compelling story, build your confidence, and showcase your unique strengths to stand out in the competitive landscape. And as much as I strive to guide and support you, I am equally enriched by your contributions and growth. Thank you to all the amazing residency candidates for your hard work, dedication, and for continuously inspiring me to evolve and improve. #PharmacyEducation #ResidencyPrep #Mentorship #ContinuousLearning #pharmacyresidencyprogram

NAPLEX Starter Kit Based on years of working with candidates Successfully ???????????? As NAPLEX season approaches, thousands of new PharmDs will be embarking on their journey to licensure The tips I have for you below are things I used myself to ensure licensure success- ON FIRST TRY?????? I hope it can do the same for you ?????? 1?? START EARLY???? Besides the obvious benefit of having more time to perfect things you study, those of you headed to residency will not be given study time. Residency starts on day 1, not the day you become licensed. It is imperative that you begin studying as early as possible for your exams 2?? Build a schedule for studying & Stick to it?? After graduation you will find yourself with a lot of free time. Use this wisely! Develop a studying schedule and commit to it. Have goals for each studying day based on your schedule so you can stay focused on completing your daily goals for the chapters and topics you want to complete 3?? Understand the exam structure and format Familiarize yourself with the exam structure, question types, and time constraints. This can be very useful in helping you prioritize areas to focus on as you study 4?? Use reliable resources to prepare There are so many resources to help you prepare for the NAPLEX. Look at them all make sure you select resources that have established reputations for helping students pass 5?? PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE??????????????????I recall dedicating 2 hours a day everyday to practice calculations. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t just accurate, but also fast! Making sure you’re fast AND accurate with calculations takes practice??Think seriously about a plan to always practice 6?? Build your mental stamina Naplex is a long exam! Work on staying focus for 4-6 hours as the exam will require. Practice staying focus for extended periods of time. 7?? Take good care of yourself This is extremely important. You want to ensure that you are taking breaks and going outside. Maintain a healthy lifestyle, proper nutrition, and sleep. 8??Remain confident?? Trusts your abilities and your aptitude. Stay positive and trust your study preparation This will also require building a community of supportive people around you. If you’re looking for one such community Join the Hey Rx Friends group right here on LinkedIn Helping You WIN?? - Saley ??????

Worst Career advice I received... "Wait Your Turn; Pharmacy is not kind to the overly ambitious, and inpatient" Okay so, imagine being fiercely driven and purposeful with your ambitions and hearing THIS! It brought into question everything I thought about myself, and how I was moving my career forward It made me (re) think what pharmacy was and if it in fact had any space for me But I am VERY grateful to have heard these words This advice led to me making my first LinkedIn post introducing Rezi Prep 360 to the world Because for me, if it's true that I have to get in line or wait my turn in order to advance, it was time to get out of line and focus on CREATING!! Fast forward four years later - I am a podcaster ( Go check out Hey Rx Friends, We Got This!) -Founder of a startup company -Founder and CEO of Rezi Prep 360 ... And so much MORE coming! Bottom Line: No industry, profession, position, or even person gets to decide how far I can go. I certainly, am not interested in getting in anyone's line to make the difference I know I can make when given a shot. You can always choose to create your own patch What is the worst advice you've ever gotten? Did it result in you doing anything BOLD? I look forward to reading them in the comments below ?

The Ultimate Differentiator... Being A Flexible Thinker As I continue to reflex on my own journey as a learner, the BIG moments happened when I allowed someone else to change my mind! I know! Such a scary concept ? What I have experienced firsthand and observed in working with learners of all stages of their pharmacy education, is that we face tremendous pressure to be sure Everything about how we are educated is centered around knowing exactly what you want to do because the journey to each destination is so unique For me, what has helped tremendously is: 1- Finding Mentors that are genuine about their journey If your career has been flawless- I LOVE that for you! But for me, I have made mistakes, and experienced public failures that I have learned from. So being mentored by people who are transparent about their own mistakes is extremely important in helping me leave the shame and guilt that is often espoused to these experiences. Mentors can be very effective in helping reframe your thinking about an experience. 2- Always Take The Meeting You have no clue what the possibilities are for an opportunity. Never just look at things superficially and decide that it is not worth your time. Making well informed decisions, especially about professional moves, require having all of the details. Go to the meeting and be open to the possibility of having your mind changed 3- Allowing Yourself to be Influenced I mean (like) a lot, a lot! LOL. If you find or even just hear of anyone who is excelling in their respecting field- Reach Out! Ask them about how they got to where they are, and that have learned or wish they knew sooner. The great folks will keep it real with you about what they had to do. Some of what you learn from them, may challenge your current understanding or viewpoint. My advice is to take it all in. Don't be so sure about your view or knowledge that other people can't influence your thinking. Bottom Line: As you prepare to start APPEs, resist the urge of rejecting unfamiliar experiences. The magic of rotation is in its ability to open your mind to seeing yourself and your role as a healthcare provider in a new light. If you're preoccupied with maintaining the status quo, you risk missing out on transformative learning opportunities. #mindset #growthmindset Helping You WIN! -Saley ?? ??♀?

3 Things To Ask Yourself Before Day 1 of Each APPE Block Working with students to prepare them for residency begins with successful APPE experience. Doing well on rotations goes well beyond attendance, and timely submission of assignments. It’s about sending the right message from day one. So I spend time with each of you reviewing your rotation schedules and coming up with a game plan of how to excel in each experience. Here are three questions we work on together to set you up for success ???????? 1?? What are your my goals for the rotation? Keep in mind that the school and the preceptor have goals for you already; things they want to see you doing by the end of the each rotation. Coming in on day one with a clear goal helps your preceptor design an experience that can be enjoyable and fulfilling. 2?? What NEW skill can I acquire on this rotation? Being intentional about your professional development is one of the most important things for your career. No matter where you are, or who you are learning from, there is always something new to be learned and or sharpened. But you must do the work of researching what some of those opportunities are at your site. Things like, drug monographs, class reviews, newsletter articles, IV room experience, or learning how to put together a lecture and exam questions & SO MUCH MORE?? These can be great differentiators for you later, but you have to be on the lookout for them 3?? What resources do I need to be successful in this rotation? Things change so fast in clinical practice. One of the things you learn early is that you need to have your go to for various things. Taking some time to organize your resources will help tremendously. One of the things that you MUST do, is have a way to get to appropriate guidelines related to the disease states you will see in that rotation. You will be glad you did this! BOTTOM LINE: Successful APPE experiences begin with YOU showing up prepared right from day one. Take some time to think about what you want and then GO FOR IT?? COMING SOON:LinkedIn Live on APPE prep Helping you WIN?? -Saley ??????♀?

Staying Purpose Driven I am so grateful to the SNPhA National Board to this amazing opportunity to impact an audience near and dear to my heart - Minority Student Pharmacists It is no secret that I will go out of my way to do whatever I can to show up and support student pharmacists anywhere. Minority students and HBCUs hold a special place in my heart As I continue on my mission to help students effectuate their potentials These two groups will always be first on my call sheet because I know that the journey is different and VERY unique for us I am so grateful that SNPhA was there for me and will continue to support the organization's mission any way I can Special thanks to Destiny Okpomo and Sharmaine Cubelo for your commitment and for turning a Midyear conversation into so much more! If you are a student who feels like you can benefit from more resources, mentorship, guidance, or just someone that can relate to youR nonlinear journey in pharmacy - LET'S TALK!

To All Prospective Candidates... Are You Setting Daily Goals? For many of you that I have talked to just this past week You feel like you are behind Despite spending the past couple of months preparing for submission season You still think your CV is not ready and your LOI needs tons of work THIS IS OKAY! Shocking, I know But really, you are not alone in feeling this way What if I told you that even the candidates that I have been working with since August have these emotions about submission What I have come to learn from all of you is that you are struggling with the finality of submission Once you click submit, you know that it is OFFICIALLY out of your hands You know that the dreaded wait of finding out if you will land an interview or not begins This is VERY NORMAL! That's the first thing I want to tell you. The other things I want to tell you is to develop a plan that includes... DAILY GOALS! Having a plan with what each day's goal is can be a way to take your power back! So much about this process is based on the external Coming up with ways to focus the nervous energy around doing productive things that prepare you for the next chapter of the process can be really empowering Keep in mind that this is a marathon, not a sprint With the conclusion of each phase of the Rx Hunger Games, another begins Develop healthy ways not to navigate these chapter so you don't run out of gas Remember, in the favor words of Dory "Just Keep Swimming!" LOL - Saley

I strongly and categorically disagree! The idea that your life experiences do not matter, and or do not shape the candidate you are - needs to be examined closer Here is why... Take me for example I am an English as a second language speaker who immigrated to the US at the age of 13 Shortly thereafter, by the age of 15, I was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure and had to begin dialysis By age 19, I received my FIRST kidney transplant which lasted 15 years During those 15 years, I realized my dream of higher education Went to pharmacy school, and ROCKED IT! Matched at Phase I to my #1 ranked residency program Two months before my wedding, my transplant #1 failed I resumed dialysis and received my SECOND kidney transplant in 2020 Then became a mom in 2023 How can you tell me that all of these things do not shape the person I am You CAN'T! My tenacity, resilience, and outlook on adversity being a normal part of life makes a DANGEROUS WOMAN in any room Because where others see problems, I am already thinking about ways to SOLVE THEM! As you prepare to submit your applications, really take some time to reflect on your journey Isolate three things about your journey that you want to convey to a program And remember that who you are will ALWAYS BE ENOUGH for the right program Join me this Saturday for the Post Midyear Debrief at 12 noon EST I will share with you how you begin to sort out all of the emotions and turn them into powerful tools to maximize your success on match day Always remember friends, WE GOT THIS! -Saley #pharmacy #pharmacist #pharmacystudents #pharmacyeducation #residency #pharmacyresidency #residencyprogram
