Tracy Filosa, Managing Director and Head of CA Institute, shared insights and best practices for public university endowments at the AGB Foundation Leadership Forum in Los Angeles. She also noted how the most forward-thinking institutions use their #endowments for more than simply balancing budgets. Joining her was John Han, CA client and CFO and VP of Administration at the University of Hawai‘i Foundation, who discussed how they’re utilizing their endowment and other key learnings. It is that time of year again when high school seniors and their parents are thinking of their post high school education. Regardless of the their educational choices, the cost is going to be enormous. High School Seniors are actively applying for scholarship help in their communities. Many community service organizations offer scholarships. And, in many cases, those that excel in their high school studies and on the ACT & SAT exams usually have the inside track to receiving those scholarships. Here is a Rotary club in Texas that takes a slightly different approach to selecting students for the scholarships they offer. First of all, to qualify, students need to belong to their club sponsored Intereact Club. Why, because Interact provides the student experience that reinforces Rotary's focus on service to others, promoting integrity, advancing world understanding, goodwill, and peace as student leaders. The other unique feature of their scholaship is the post high school educational institution the students choose to attend can include 4 year programs, 2 year programs and trade schools. They want students to choose a school that will advance their chosen vocation. Check out the story below. This clubs scholarship is intended for Senior Interact club members at Fred Moore High School and Lake Dallas High School in Denton and Lake Dallas, Texas. As a Rotarian in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, my hope is that more organizations that award scholarships adopt a similar approach to selecting their scholarship recipients.

Today, I'm honored to be speaking at the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders Higher Education Leadership Summit at UC Berkeley. I'm teaching a session on Leading with Executive Presence - what it means and how to tap into those strengths, especially for those of us who don't exactly fit the stereotypical expectations for senior leaders. I'm Asian, a woman, and if you've met me in person, you know I'm pretty petite. Not exactly the image that immediately comes to mind when someone says "executive presence". Yet, for much of my career, I didn't have the positional authority or the lofty title - which meant I had to rely on my personal presence and influence to get things done. So I experimented, studied, learned, and did what I had to do. Eventually, I became a Director of Strategy and Planning at one of the world's biggest companies. And now, I get to give back and help others make their mark. As leaders, our job is to inspire, motivate, and set clear direction in high-stakes situations. At 3 pm today, join 250 higher ed leaders at the East Pauley Ballroom and allow me to help you shine your light even brighter. Special thanks to my Exec|Comm colleague Robert Chen for connecting me to the important work this team is doing for the AANHPI community! #communicationskills #executivepresence #leadership

On our flagship Schools Partnership Programme (SPP), clusters of schools conduct peer reviews and support one another’s improvement – leading to improved system leadership and greater accountability in England’s schools. In a new report, Associate Professors at University College London (UCL), David Godfrey and Dr Bernardita Munoz-Chereau, present a summary of a three-year project conducted by the UCL Centre for Educational Leadership evaluating the SPP. Funded by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF), the report outlines the main components of the SPP, the research project’s key findings, and evidence-backed recommendations for policymakers and school leaders on using peer-led initiatives for school improvement.
