At Caltrans, you get to be in the lead. You get to decide what kind of research though the your your consultants will do. You get to decide how they are going to pursue fines in the field. You get to decide how they're going to react to it, how they're going to take those things into account so you have much more control and much more input onto the impacts of your work. Even though I didn't work for a government agency doing consultation, I got to have a lot of interaction with tribal monitors. I developed relationships with a lot of them, and I developed an understanding of the things they were looking for. When they were out in the field, but they were very much interested in having that presence there and having their own form of expertise on the landscape so that they could protect their resources as they knew them. And, and as an archaeologist in the field, that background helped me understand that it's not necessarily just an archaeological perspective that we're pursuing here, that we really need to, as a state agency, be working in the interests of the people of the state. And the native peoples have been peoples of the state for far longer than we have. That a lot of the broader goals that California has in terms of climate change, equity, community, Environmental Conservation, all of those goals are highly compatible with the goals of tribal cultural and natural heritage preservation. So I think that gives us a lot of opportunity for partnership with tribes board achieving mutual benefits for for everyone. So I really look forward to sharing that. The audience.
