Currently, a veteran must contact the VA within 72 hours of receiving non-VA emergency care; otherwise VA may deny payment for these services even if the veteran is eligible for treatment. Veterans suffering medical emergencies should not have to worry about whether VA will deny coverage or refuse payment because of administrative notification time requirements. H.R. 3644, the Addressing Care Timelines (ACT) for Veterans Act would provide an additional 24-hour period for veterans to inform the VA when receiving care at a non-VA facility under the Veterans Community Care Program. DAV supports H.R. 3644, in accordance with DAV Resolution No. 205, which calls for the improvement of emergency care benefits for service-connected veterans: specifically, for VA to provide a more liberal interpretation of the law governing payment for emergency care and reimbursement to veterans who have received emergency care at non-VA facilities. We ask all DAV members and supporters to contact their representatives and urge them to co-sponsor and support H. R. 3644, the ACT for Veterans Act. #DAVCAN #ACT4VETS

Senator Cory Booker has created great resource in the New Jersey Veterans Handbook, a comprehensive guide to help veterans in the Garden State access the benefits, services and opportunities they have earned through their selfless sacrifice. Please share with any veteran who lives in New Jersey. This detailed handbook covers a wide range of topics, including: ???? Healthcare services and benefits from the VA ?? Employment resources and financial assistance ?? Housing support and homeless prevention ???? Educational opportunities and career training ?? Mental health resources and counseling services No matter what challenges our veterans may face after their service, this handbook aims to connect them with the programs and support systems available right here in New Jersey. We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to the brave men and women who have defended our freedom. The New Jersey Veterans Handbook is a powerful resource to ensure they receive the care and benefits they deserve. I encourage every veteran and their family members in New Jersey to obtain a copy of this invaluable new handbook by visiting booker.senate.gov or calling Senator Booker's office. #njsosvets #senatorbooker #veterans #veteransupport #veteranservices #NewJersey #veteransaffairs #community #connections #knowledgeispower

Our nation’s 2.4 million veterans living in rural areas often face difficulties accessing Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care that those living in urban and suburban areas do not. Chief among them is transportation to VA medical facilities. The nearly 300,000 veterans living in areas considered highly rural face even greater obstacles and deserve increased attention to assistance in accessing VA’s high-quality health care. S. 3751, the Rural Veterans Transportation to Care Act, would help more veterans in highly rural areas get transportation to VA health facilities and access the health care benefits they’ve earned and need. This bipartisan bill would expand eligibility to the VA’s Highly Rural Transportation Grant Program, which provides grant funding for veteran service organizations and state veterans service agencies to provide veterans transportation in eligible counties by increasing the maximum amount of funding granted to purchase an ADA-compliant vehicle. DAV is proud to support the Rural Veterans Transportation to Care Act,?in accordance with DAV Resolution No. 030, which calls for ensuring sufficient access to care to meet the health needs of veterans residing in rural or remote areas. This bill would help the VA provide all rural veterans better access to health care and help ensure our nation keeps its promises to America’s veterans. I am calling on YOU to contact their senators and urge them to co-sponsor and support this legislation. Thank you for participating & for your support. #DAV #veterans #advocacy #veteransupport
