To grow fast, do more. This is the most misunderstood paradox of productivity. But as Cal Newport explains in Slow Productivity, it's the complete opposite. These are his 3 steps to becoming exceptional at what you do. Do less. As a culture, we want more. More speed More content More dopamine But more doesn't mean better. It means more distraction. Doing less forces you to determine what is actually important? If you could only do one thing today, what would it be? The Illusion of Time Social media warps our perception of time. It's not about who gets there first, but who stays in the game longest. Obsess over quality. Surround yourself with like-minded people who share your goals. UNVEILING THE POWER OF CORE VALUES: BUILDING A FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it's easy to lose sight of what truly matters to us. Core values serve as guiding principles that shape our beliefs, behaviours, and decisions, both personally and professionally. In this blog, we'll explore what core values are, how to develop a deeper understanding of your own values, and the importance of using them to underpin your business vision. So what are core values? They are the fundamental beliefs and principles that guide our actions and define who we are as individuals. They represent our deepest convictions, priorities, and ideals, reflecting what we stand for and what matters most to us. Core values can encompass a wide range of principles, such as integrity, honesty, compassion, respect, excellence, and innovation, there is a looooonnnggg list, which I have attached for ease of reference. So how can you develop your understanding of your values and capture them? o Self-Reflection: Take time for introspection and self-reflection to explore what truly matters to you. Ask yourself questions like: What principles do I hold dear? What qualities do I admire in others? What brings me a sense of fulfilment and purpose? o Identify Key Experiences: Reflect on significant experiences and moments in your life that have shaped your values and beliefs. Consider both positive and negative experiences, as they can provide valuable insights into what resonates with you on a deeper level. o Seek Feedback: Reach out to friends, family members, mentors, and colleagues for feedback on your values. Ask them to share their observations and perspectives on what they perceive to be your core values. Their insights can offer valuable perspectives and help you gain clarity. o Align with Actions: Pay attention to how your values align with your actions and decisions in various areas of your life. Notice when you feel a sense of alignment or conflict between your values and your behaviours and use these observations to refine your understanding of your core values. Core values are the bedrock upon which successful people are built. By developing a deeper understanding of your own values and using them to underpin your decisions, you can create a foundation for success. If you are keen to understand your personal values, then you can find a FREE downloadable worksheet here you to use.

9 out of 10 people reading this won’t achieve their goals this year. (92%, according to the University of Scranton) But why? - You don’t know how to set goals properly. The internet is overflowing with self-improvement advice, making it easy to fall into the perfectionism trap. You end up setting goals that are so rigid and inauthentic that they don’t move you forward. Have you ever filled out productivity websites just to get a pop-up asking for $19.99 for the results? - You don’t know what to do. Around 79.7% of businesses need to adapt their strategies every two to five years to stay competitive and survive. This applies to people too. What you do doesn’t matter as much at the start. Action is what matters most. - You don’t optimize for sustainability. If you’re human, you’re not built to keep going without seeing any results. You can, but sustaining it takes an enormous amount of effort. The cheat code is quick wins. Everyone can achieve these. Want to solve these problems? Check out the framework below or read my blog post for an in-depth look. https://shorturl.at/YhGoR

Last week, I shared why I focus on #systems instead of #goals when I want to improve something in my life. But what exactly are systems, and why are they so powerful? Simply put, systems are repeatable actions that help you achieve your goals. They focus on how you get there, not just what you want to achieve. Think of them as the roadmap that keeps you moving forward. Here’s an example: Let’s say you want to be more organized. Instead of just wishing for it, you can create a system. 1?? Identify the need. (e.g., "I need to organize my daily tasks.") 2?? Define the goal. ("I want to stay on top of my workload.") 3?? Build a routine. Start each day by writing a checklist of your priorities. 4?? Review and adjust. At the end of the week, reflect on what worked and tweak what didn’t. The beauty of systems? They focus on #progress, not perfection. Small, consistent actions build momentum—and over time, the results compound. This is the power of tiny gains, a concept James Clear brilliantly describes in "Atomic Habits". So, why do systems matter? Goals might motivate you, but systems are what actually get you to the finish line. They make progress feel achievable—even on your busiest days. And they turn lofty aspirations into daily habits that stick.

We make a big deal out of giving 100%. However, the truth is that nobody does so all the time. Consistency isn’t about perfection—it’s about persistence. No matter what your high school coach told you, the journey to achieving goals is less about being flawless every day and more about continuing to show up, even when you’re not at your best. ? The mindset that we need to bring our A-game every single day in order to succeed can lead to burnout, as the pressure to be perfect can be overwhelming and unsustainable. Life happens, energy levels fluctuate, and some days will inevitably be tougher than others. ? Real success comes from consistently putting in the effort, even when you’re not feeling your best. Some days, you might only have 50% to give, but the key is to still show up. In the end, it’s the accumulation of these efforts, day after day, that drives progress. ? In fact, studies show that consistent effort, even at lower levels of intensity, leads to greater long-term success than sporadic bursts of high performance. The road to success is paved with small, consistent actions. It’s not about being perfect every day—it’s about showing up, putting in the work, and moving forward, even on the days when you feel less than 100%. Remember, it’s the consistency of your efforts that will ultimately lead to the greatest rewards. So, keep showing up, and over time, you’ll see the impact of your dedication. --- Develop skills across your entire organization at scale. Let’s get straight to it. Logical tools—things like “thinking positive,” productivity hacks, even goal-setting—they’re great on paper. But if you’re still carrying emotional baggage, they’re only going to get you so far. Logical tools are like trying to drive with the emergency brake on. They help you move a little, but they don’t address what’s keeping you from real speed. And that brake? It’s your unresolved emotions. Emotional Tools, on the other hand, work by removing the brake entirely. Instead of trying to power through and “stay positive,” they allow you to release what’s holding you back. When you address emotions on a deeper level, you stop wasting energy fighting them, and that energy goes straight into taking action and seeing real results. A recent client, Mike, came to me because he felt trapped in a cycle of self-doubt. No matter how hard he worked, he kept feeling like he wasn’t good enough. We used Emotional Tools to go beyond the surface, and within weeks, his confidence wasn’t just something he was trying to “fake till you make it”—he actually felt it. And his business followed. He landed three new clients and saw his revenue jump by 30% in just two months. If you’re done pushing through with half your energy and want to experience real momentum, reply, and let’s talk about how Emotional Tools can be your shortcut to lasting change.

It’s easy to set big goals. The hard part? Creating systems that get you there. 1% improvement every day seems insignificant—but over a year, it leads to a 37x improvement. That’s the power of systems. Here’s how to make this work: 1/ Focus on the system, not the goal. 2/ Break big goals into tiny, repeatable habits. 3/ Track progress consistently—small wins add up. 4/ Build systems that don’t rely on motivation. The key is not aiming for perfection. It’s about setting up systems that make progress inevitable. Start small. Build your systems. Watch big results unfold. ————————— PS - If you liked this, follow me Louis Cho for daily insights just like this! ?? Repost this so others can build their systems of success!

How much information should we seek daily that can be applied to our growth? ? Our daily exposure to endless amounts of information may create a gap between simply knowing something and effectively applying it in our lives. ? In this age of information overload, the ability to apply what we know has become more critical than ever. We must ask ourselves, what we need to know and why. ? While knowledge is undoubtedly valuable, it's the application that truly drives our growth. ? Think about it: what good is all the information we consume if we don't use it to make meaningful changes or improvements? Whether it's in our personal or professional lives, the true measure of success lies not in what we know, but in how we apply that knowledge to achieve our goals. ? So, how can we bridge this gap between knowing and applying? ? It starts with intentionality and focus. With so much competition for our attention which takes time and energy, we must avoid passive consumption of information. ? To achieve that, effective time management is key to making the most of our 24 hours each day. ? We all have the same amount of time; it's how we choose to use it that makes the difference. By prioritizing tasks, minimizing distractions, and staying focused on our goals, we can maximize our productivity and make significant strides toward success. ? In an era where information is abundant and readily accessible, the ability to apply that knowledge is what sets individuals and organizations apart. ? By being intentional and managing our time effectively, we can bridge the gap between knowing and applying, and unlock our full potential for success. ? #personaldevelopment #leadershipdevelopment #wisdomwaves
