Our amazing interns spent a day volunteering at Lee Elementary School, where they reorganized the library and crafted cheerful back-to-school signs for the students. This hands-on experience was a fantastic opportunity for them to engage with the community and hone their collaborative skills. ? At Cabrera Capital, we believe it is important to connect with the community by creating opportunities for younger generations. Our partnership with Lee Elementary and Children First Fund one way we give back by making sure kids have access to financial literacy and understand the possibilities open to them. ? We are grateful for the hard work and passion our interns have brought to Cabrera Capital Markets and to Lee Elementary School this summer. Their efforts have truly made a difference! ?? ? #Interns #LeeElementarySchool #CabreraCapital #CommunityEngagement #Volunteering

The center was opened in 2019 by Raquel and Adam Shipp to offer varied recreational and educational activities for the local youth, including a black box theater, recording studio, full-service cafe, and charter school. Through a strong network of donors and grant funding, the SYC focuses on developing youth's mental and behavioral health, and preparing them for the future. ??Last year, I had the fantastic opportunity to complete my internship with the Head Start program in Richmond, California. During my time in the classroom, I had the pleasure of meeting incredible children and teachers. My lessons were centered around social-emotional development. I chose this focus because, as a preschool teacher, I believe that learning to express, communicate, and advocate for oneself is crucial for all ages, particularly for low-income black and brown families. Also when we have the tools to help ourselves we can better help those around us. Despite the prevailing belief among educators that children are egocentric and lack the ability to understand others' emotions, I aimed to challenge this notion. I began by investigating whether children could grasp their own emotions and express them through words, facial expressions, and actions. Through weeks of exploration and inquiry, including asking children about their actions and the emotions behind them, we progressed to examining their friends' emotions. We practiced asking questions such as "How are you feeling today?" "What made you feel this way?" and "How can I help you feel better?" We also encouraged children to problem solve amongst each other by using the language used above? Observational findings: Social-emotional development We noticed that following engagement in social-emotional activities and discussions, children began using phrases like "How are you feeling?" "I need space," or "Can we play together?" Our observations revealed a growing awareness of others as children started advocating for fairness, such as saying, "Hey, it's not fair to knock down people's towers." Through ongoing observation and exploration of social-emotional development with our children, we aim to challenge the assumption that children are inherently selfish and incapable of understanding others' feelings.

Make a difference this Giving Tuesday! As a first-generation college student, I was fortunate to receive support from many. As you reflect on your lived experience, I suspect you also benefited from the kindness of another. This Giving Tuesday, I’m asking you to join me by going to https://lnkd.in/de4vhBs5 to Pay It Forward. Think about the third-year college student navigating internship costs, the single-parent dealing with unexpected medical expenses, or the first-generation student with a disability striving to complete college. Each of these stories is real, and together, we can help make their journey a little easier. Together, our collective generosity will help students pursuing their dreams by providing the financial support they need to focus on their studies. Go to https://lnkd.in/de4vhBs5 and PAY IT FORWARD.

Take a moment to look up entry-level jobs, like software engineering positions, on LinkedIn. You will see that most listings demand at least a year of experience. And if not that, they ask for proficiency in a long list of tech stacks and a portfolio of applications. Understandably, companies need to maintain agility and cannot always afford the time and resources to train newcomers extensively. But where does this leave fresh graduates? Especially those from tier-2 and tier-3 colleges and towns? They finish college and barely find internships. How are they to gain this experience that is not a differentiator anymore but has become the eligibility criteria? This is exactly the gap SURE TRUST aims to fill. We train engineering students with the latest technologies, give them assignments and projects to execute, and we put those projects to use. We adhere to strict discipline and groom the students in what makes a hard and smart-working employee with the highest standards of integrity and work ethics. We hand them all the tools they need to excel in their careers. Did I mention this is at absolutely ZERO cost to the students? So here is a call to all engineering students: if you want to start your career with a solid foundation and are ready to do put in the work, then explore the courses and reach out to us. And here is a call to all those who are ahead of this journey: If you want to be part of a mission that is changing the lives of students, here's a place for you too. You can register as a trainer, help us with admin work, or simply provide referrals to our handpicked students in your companies (and probably earn rewards from your company too). To companies in search of exceptional talent: If you're finding it challenging to locate well-trained, outstanding candidates, we're here to help. We're open to expanding our course offerings to meet your specific needs and invite you to partner with our placement cell. So, reach out to me or the founder of this amazing initiative, Prof. Radhakumari Challa. Radha Kumari. Or anyone at all who is associated with SURE TRUST
Founder & Executive Director - SURE Trust (Skill Upgradation for Rural Youth Empowerment) | | Ret. from Dept. of Management & Commerce, SSSIHL, ATP Campus, Puttaparthi-515134
SURE Trust (https://lnkd.in/gBt7FpFH) which was started in February 2020, is a transformative initiative dedicated to empowering educated, unemployed rural youth by equipping them with essential skills in cutting-edge, industry-relevant technologies, completely free of charge. Our mission is to enhance the employability of these individuals, thereby fostering socio-economic growth in our communities. Operating on the principle of social responsibility and giving back to society, SURE Trust has been making a significant impact over the past four years. Central to our success is a dedicated team of volunteering industry executives who generously contribute their expertise and time to mentor and guide the youth. These executives commit to allocating one hour each day, Monday through Saturday, between 6 pm and 10:30 pm, for a duration of four months. Their invaluable support and mentorship serve as a cornerstone for the program's effectiveness. Additionally, we are fortunate to have the involvement of highly experienced senior executives who, while unable to spare daily time commitments, generously contribute their expertise on weekends. Whether through mentoring students in internship projects or evaluating final projects, their input is instrumental in ensuring the quality and relevance of our initiatives. At SURE Trust, we believe in the power of collaboration and collective action to drive positive change. Through the dedication of our volunteers and the commitment of our beneficiaries, we are creating a brighter future for rural youth, one skill at a time.
