Safety in a Mechanical workshop. Safety in a workshop is very vital to eliminate any accident or injuries such as burn , cuts ,fainting , electric shock, slippery /falling and fracture . To do away with such kinds of accident, technician MUST observe and put in action the following practices: 1.Proper housekeeping - Organise the workshop to look clean and free from any slippery reagents such as oil, coolant and water. 2. Wear personal protective equipment -Technicians or visitors operating or coming in the workshop MUST put on safety boot , overall, industrial helmet, goggles and any other necessary PPES . 3.Machine guarding - install guards to all rotating machines . 4.Use clear and reflective signals and writings to indicate hazards ,exit points and fire Assembly point. 5. Ensure that the workshop has a proper air ventilation . 6. When working on a vehicle or generator always put the ignition off and disconnect the battery by first removing the negative cable. 7. Always use proper and specific tools in a good way . Ensure the tools u're using are in good condition. for instance, when jacking up the vehicle, u should always jack the vehicle at specific Jacking points as indicated by the manufacturer, and also use jack stands which have good strength.
