Kudos to our Canadian colleagues at Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) for their work on the Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Report and Strategy! The report outlines strategic objectives, guiding principles, and proposed projects that will enhance our services and build our AI/ML capacity. The proposed projects are particularly promising: 1. Audio to Text Transcription: Leveraging AI to make audio collections more accessible. 2. Government Documents: Enhancing metadata for historical documents to improve discoverability. 3. Accessibility Projects: Improving the Accessible Content E-Portal (ACE) for users with print disabilities. 4. Virtual Reference: Developing AI-driven virtual reference services with a human-in-the-loop approach. 5. Capacity Building: Comprehensive AI/ML training for staff to foster a culture of continuous learning. I'm buoyed by these initiatives as they align with my own goals of enhancing AI literacy, improving accessibility, and fostering innovation.
