Senior Software Engineer on the market for new work! Professional experience/resume on my profile. I've been teaching myself to use kubernetes by hosting a k3s cluster in my basement powered by my old gaming pc and 4 intel NUC 5i5MYBEs. It has a steep learning curve but once it "clicks" it's not so bad. Self hosting several services such as gitea, openproject, jellyfin, and a sideproject that I'll discuss more in future posts. I'm using a combination of Rancher K3s and OpenLens to administer my cluster along with helm charts for deploying services. Definitely a worthwhile technology to learn. In my opinion, knowing how to fully administer a kubernetes setup in your homelab (all self hosted!) is an excellent way to showcase technical knowledge as it covers everything from sys admin work, networking, and devops. Combining that with SSL certs to get proper TLS working on a local setup, DNS name resolution in pfsense, and openvpn to access the home network from anywhere is awesome! #gitea #openproject #jellyfin #kubernetes #rancher #k3s #openlens #lookingforwork #networking
