Hello, my name is Doctor Angela Griffin, and I'm excited to be the next CEO of Burr, Barclays. My daddy intentionally named me after one of my sheroes, Angela Davis, and always encouraged me to work for social justice and Black liberation. He was a Black Panther and intricately involved in the Civil Rights movement in Los Angeles. He would be so proud of me to see me carrying forth his legacy at Bird Bar Place and historically black organization that started during the Civil Rights Movement. I'm overjoyed to be following his footsteps and the other great leaders who led Bird Barn. Placed before me, I'm also excited to be working for an incredible team and with the community through Bird Bar Place. Together, we will build upon the organization's 60 year legacy of social service and advocacy and assure you that we will continue to be here centering black people first and foremost. This means continuing to provide essential services for Central District and Seattle neighbors. We're struggling to make ends meet and advocating for equity. Statewide social and racial justice is my lifelong work and I've committed to Bird Bar Places mission of creating the equitable future for all Washingtonians. I'm looking forward to meeting you and hearing all about your priorities and aspirations for Bird Bar Places Future. I hope you will reach out and say hello when I start in mid-july. Until then, please take care of yourselves and know that I'm honored to be a part of our Barclays.
