(Dis)Trust in Elections: Identifying Who Distrusts the Election Process & Why - PDF: https://lnkd.in/gENbxKFA Distrust in the election process isn’t a new problem, and it will take more than a quick fix to reverse. Distrust among conservative-leaning and independent voters is highest after votes are cast (when they’re collected and counted, and when a winner is chosen). As such, efforts to rebuild voter confidence and trust should focus on informing and reassuring voters about the process after ballots are cast and the protections that are in place to preserve integrity. However, these efforts should take place in the time leading up to elections to preemptively begin building trust in the process as early as possible. Remember: Building trust with these voters will take time. Rather than a one-and-done strategy, it will be key to reach these voters with strategic messaging, delivered by sources they trust, consistently and over time. As we gear up for the 2024 National Elections, ensuring the safety of our clients remains our top priority. With Election Day set for May 29, 2024, preparations are in full swing. Here is some information regarding the National Elections. In total, there will be 23,292 voting stations spread across all nine provinces, with KwaZulu-Natal leading the count at 4,974 stations, followed closely by the Eastern Cape with 4,868 and Limpopo with 3,216. On Election Day, each voter will receive three ballot papers: the National Compensatory ballot, the National Regional ballot, and the Provincial Legislature ballot. According to the official Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) website, a record-breaking 27.79 million voters are eligible to participate this year, marking the highest total since the country's transition to democracy. #Mexico’s 2024 elections were some of the most violent in recent history, with most of this violence felt at the local level. Of the 216 violent incidents where candidates or their relatives or supporters were targeted, over 80% targeted political figures running for local office, including for mayor and municipal council seats. #Veracruz state — which didn’t hold local elections in June — is a noteworthy example of how local elections can drive violence. During the last municipal elections in 2021, Veracruz was the state with the highest level of violence targeting political figures, with 57 events recorded in the six months leading up to the vote and the two weeks that followed. This time, however, ACLED records about a quarter of the 2021 figure — 17 events — in Veracruz, dropping the state to 10th in the ranking, underlining how the absence of municipal elections may correlate with reduced violence. Just two (2) days into updating of Electrol Roll for Ward One (1)of Vanimo Urban LLL, Vanimo Green District and already identified many ghost names, many eligible voter's names not included during previous roll outs, and so many provisional voter's (turning 18 years). All these signifies a major population growth especially with the increasing number of youths. Alaska Natives have comprised an important voting bloc in past elections and could do so again -- if turnout is strong enough. In rural areas, however, the act of voting can be difficult. Some precincts failed to open in past elections, and voting by mail isn't always the answer because the rural post offices are understaffed. There are obstacles that some people believe have been erected deliberately. Prop 140 is known as the Make Elections Fair Act and is one of the 2024 Arizona ballot initiatives voters will be deciding in this election. ??? This measure would open primary elections to all voters regardless of party affiliation, including independents. All candidates would appear on the same ballot and that ballot would be sent to all registered voters. ? Arguments for Prop 140: The number of independent voters is only growing in Arizona, with more and more people, including younger generations, trending to register as independent. Prop 140 will allow independent voters to more easily participate in Arizona primary elections and assist Arizonans in passing responsive election reforms. ? Arguments against Prop 140: Our current primary system for partisan offices should be preserved. Open primaries can make ballots longer and more complex. The existing primary system ensures equal and fair representation of each registered party so their voters have a voice in the General Election.
