Today is World Suicide Prevention Day, with the new triennial theme:?'Changing The Narrative on Suicide'.?This theme focuses on raising awareness about the importance of reducing stigma and encouraging open conversations to prevent suicides. Changing the narrative on suicide means reshaping how we approach this complex issue and shifting from a culture of silence and stigma to one of openness, understanding, and support.?Whether it’s a colleague, a friend or a loved one, let's all take a moment today to reach out and listen. #startheconversation ? Here are some ways we can help: - Listen without judgement - sometimes the greatest help we can offer is to simply listen. - Be kind to yourself and others - small acts of kindness are impactful. - Share resources - encourage others to seek professional support when needed. ? If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available. Please reach out. ? Charities such as Samaritans offer 24/7 helplines, find out more information below: https://lnkd.in/dqaUFSXB? #SuicidePreventionDay #MentalHealth #SRCInfrastructure

Resharing this as the deadline for my team to hit our fundraising goal is the end of this week!! Any donation is appreciated so much and the money is going to such an amazing charity and cause! Please help if you can! I'm excited to share that I will be participating in the Mental Health World Cup on May 11th, 2024, at Loftus Road Stadium in London. This isn't just a football tournament; it's a powerful movement against male suicide and a stand for mental health awareness. The Mental Health World Cup, supported by the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), is a key event that raises funds and awareness for the fight against suicide. It's a cause close to my heart, and I'm committed to making a difference. I'm reaching out to my professional network for support. Your donation can help save lives and support mental health initiatives. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a significant impact. How Your Support Helps: Awareness: Your support helps in spreading awareness about mental health issues and the importance of suicide prevention. Community Impact: Funds raised go towards mental health initiatives and community programs that offer support and resources. Encouragement: Your support fuels our team's spirit and underscores the importance of mental health in every sector, including our professional lives. Often, when a person experiencing addiction relapses, they can feel hopeless, isolated, and despondent. However, just because a person relapses doesn’t mean that another course of treatment will not work. Experiencing addiction can feel incredibly isolating. People who experience it often believe no one else feels the way they do, which is why community and support are crucial to the work we do at Simon House. Our 12-week program includes group counselling sessions, house meetings, and other elements of communal support so that all our clients see that others are experiencing similar problems. After graduation from our 12-week program, we also offer services and support that mean alumni always have a place to turn to. Our graduates share stories, successes, and guidance along the way to ensure everyone who comes through Simon House knows that they are not alone. Grants and donations fund all our services. At Simon House, we call our residential program ‘Active Treatment’ because it requires participants to get involved actively, build connections, and cultivate the tools they will need for their lifelong journey of addiction recovery. Jesse F. is a graduate of this program and speaks of how the tools and structure we provided in the 12-week program have been the foundation for his own recovery journey since. Our program requires clients to attend the following. -Five outside 12-step meetings -Weekly alumni speaker meetings -Monthly graduate meeting -Monthly Al-Anon meeting -Daily morning meditation -Daily house meeting The structure and routine we build into our program, alongside the communal support and spiritual connections, have been indispensable in the stories of countless graduates. If you would like to support our 12-week residential program and help more people like Jesse F., then consider donating to Simon House today. Your dollars can support not just one but many individuals experiencing addiction and can provide them with the help and support they need for recovery. Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. Last year 6069 suicides were registered in England and Wales (ONS) That's too many people. Today we encourage you to check in with you friends, family, colleagues. If you have a niggling feeling that someone is having thoughts of suicide ask them if they are having suicidal thoughts. By being direct, you will get a yes or no answer so you know how that person is feeling and what you need to do next, if anything. There's lots of great charities with further information on how to support someone who is having thoughts of suicide. @calmzone @samaritans @mindcharity Take care of yourself today. #worldsuicidepreventionday #suicideprevention #suicide #nurturewellness #mentalhealth
