Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to all the teachers out there!! First off, I wanted to give a shoutout to teachers everywhere for dedicating themselves to teaching their students and making classrooms an engaging and safe space for all. As an aspiring school psychologist, I am in awe of how much you bring to the school climate. But I can’t talk about teacher appreciation week without bringing up the reality of the field today: that thousands of teachers are quitting their jobs due to outrageous student behaviors, low pay, and poor support from administration. This has caused teachers to advise the younger generation to stay away from teaching as a profession, which means hardly any teachers are entering the field now. We can’t have a Teacher Appreciation Week without teachers. School districts, don’t just tell teachers they are appreciated; show them by paying them more and giving them support. And parents, raise your kids to respect teachers and other adults so that teachers aren’t overwhelmed. By doing this, we can bring joy and happiness back to the education field, and create teachers who truly love what they do ?????? #teachers #education #schools #students #teachershortage #teacherappreciationweek
