A3 is becoming COSMOS.AFR Based on the Sustainability Statement - we shared in our previous post, we are taking the decision to evolve from A3 : Archives of African Architectures into cosmos - as we become more focussed on harnessing metadata on Africa's cities to support the UN SDG 11 on the more pressing need to "make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable." We imagine an Africa where there is accessible data on her over 500 million buildings to help researchers, real estate sector and government in planning and development of her cities. We imagine a platform where metadata on buildings - materials, green area coverage, electricity and plumbing coverage etc are progressively captured. cosmos will now align with?CoDesign Africa as its parent organisation on its mission to work with multiple stakeholders to rebuild Africa's cities. There will be new initiatives as you will learn in the coming days. West Africa Architecture Biennale previously planned by A3 - Archnet Collaborative will now also be known as ReFest : Research Festival for The Curious. Follow the event page here?@refest.afr on Instagram. Other initiatives such as Unknown Publication will now be Digital First. We will begin refunds to all pre- print buyers of Unknown as we prioritise digital in this next phase. Will you continue to journey along with us ?? Let us know in the comments. #cosmos #new
