$340M stadium project has flipped from Design-Build to Construction-Manager-at-Risk and the original general contractor has bowed out. This followed an announcement that the estimated time of completion had been pushed back one full year to 2027 due to supply chain issues. (Surprising to me, as I've heard most supply issues have ironed out since COVID). From conversations I've had over the last few weeks, most delays are attributable to the general contractor, and in this scenario the new general contractor has agreed to take on the liability of delays and spend over budget. +70% (!) of projects finish past the original scoped deadline. I do believe the new GC can make it work, but the odds are against them. With what sounded like a competitive bid process, I hope they haven't overpromised! https://lnkd.in/gatAscyz

What is DfMA and how does it improve not only safety and quality of a build, but also sustainability? Buro Happold was appointed to deliver all major engineering services including Civil, Structural, and Building Services Engineering (MEP) for Everton FC’s new stadium, located on the Grade II listed Bramley Moore Dock.?One of the major elements of our work was the DfMA approach to the stadium. DfMA’s focus on efficiency naturally leads to the improved sustainability of construction projects. A reduction in the number of parts means less processing and, subsequently, a reduction in energy usage and carbon emissions, whilst also improving safety and quality.?? ? The Jacksonville Jaguars' "Stadium of the Future" is a go, as the franchise and city approved an agreement on a $1.4 billion project that will keep the Jaguars in Jacksonville for "decades to come." The proposal will see each side contribute $625 million to the project and Jacksonville would chip in another $150 million to get EverBank Stadium ready for construction beginning in 2026. One aspect of working through a pandemic that was most challenging to the industry was change. The ability to pivot and adjust was essential to the survival of companies.
