Ways I check in on the future health of the entertainment industry? How many new jobs on the new UTA Joblist, which was just released? This to me is the best Joblist for the LA media world. And there's just 1 new assistant job, 0 general office jobs, and 0 internships. That's bad. I also check with locations people. When production really gets set to start, there's amongst the first to start working. I asked a friend, an excellent and almost always employed location scout. He is working now on a studio show. He said things are better now than in 2023 but still terrible. And he's terrified about what's next. For those looking to start or actually just beginning their careers, you should be thinking about this. I suggest you ask for help, advice, and guidance now and get used to doing so. If you're a student, check in with your school/ university. See what support they offer and ask for more. And please try to connect with alumni. The more you can prepare for your careers now, the easier it will be later. And as always, please remember that your career is not your life. #mediacareers #entertainment #students #internships #filmmaking

It was my senior year of undergrad and I wanted this internship so badly. I had tried everything from sending my resume to different people in the company to I think even sending some kind of fruit basket. No one replied. Michael Jordan had come out of retirement for the 2nd time to play for the Wizards, and having gone to school in DC, I knew I HAD to work for the team in some capacity. But nothing was working. And I finally gave up. But then when my PR class gave us the assignment to interview someone that works in PR for a living, and give a presentation, I figured I would try reaching out to the team. Not because of an internship opportunity - I figured that was long gone - but instead because I thought it would be cool to learn about working in PR for an NBA team. I called the PR department, and to my surprise, I was connected with the Assistant Director of PR. She invited me to the arena, gave me a tour, and we spoke for nearly 3 hours. At the end of the interview, I said that to let me know if any other internships open up and I would love to apply. She responded by saying that there was actually an opening for a game day operations internship, and that if I could be ready that evening, it was mine. Of course I took it and few hours later I was a PR intern and was tasked with getting post games quotes from MJ himself for the team website and local publications. Yes, this was unreal and so exciting, but it showed me something that has stuck with me to this day: There is more than one way to land a job or internship. Opportunities can seemingly come out of no where. Sometimes you just need to change your approach - and sometimes you need to let go of the traditional way of doing things. Just when you feel you are ready to give up, keep a mind. You might just find a way to land your dream opportunity.

"How Do I Get Started in the Sports Industry?" One of the most common questions our founder receives on her TikTok is: "I want to work in sports, but I don’t have any experience—what should I do?" Here’s the truth: Your experience shouldn’t start after graduation. The best time to gain it? While you’re in undergrad. And the best way to do that? Internships. I am delighted to share that I have completed my three-month internship at RV Rising Entertainment. As my internship comes to a close, I reflect on an enriching experience that has significantly contributed to my professional and personal growth. Working as a content writing intern, my primary responsibility was to craft news articles for the organization’s website. This role has not only kept me informed about current national and international events but has also honed my ability to work within a structured routine and manage my time efficiently. ? Throughout my internship, I gained valuable insights into the field of journalism and content creation. One key lesson was understanding how language and inherent biases in a piece of writing can shape a reader's perception. Secondly, I learned that relying solely on headlines for information can be misleading, as headlines are designed to be catchy and engaging but are constrained by space limitations. Crafting an effective headline is a delicate balance between attracting readers and conveying the essence of the article. Moreover, I discovered the importance of thorough research and verification. The prevalence of misinformation online has underscored the necessity of consulting reliable sources to ensure content accuracy. ? Finally, my time at RV Rising Entertainment has been a significant milestone in my professional journey. As an aspiring psychologist, the professional skills I developed during this internship, including critical thinking, precise communication, and diligent research are universally valuable and will undoubtedly benefit me in any future endeavors. #internship

How did I get here? One thing about me has always been undeniably true: I’ve never been one to follow the crowd—I was born to stand out. This mindset has shaped my somewhat unconventional journey. After high school, I took two gap years to explore my passions and find clarity before committing to a career path. Here are some insights into what that looked like: ?? Journalism Internship:?I spent a year learning and telling the most incredible stories which was an unbelievable experience for a small-town girl like me. ??Modeling:?I then ventured into modeling (pageants and runway). Despite the challenges of COVID-19, it was a fun and rewarding experience. I might just make a return! ??Choosing What To Study:?When it was finally time to study, I made a coin toss which led me to pursue a degree in Communications. If it had gone the other way, I'd have a degree in Drama ??Sales/ Receptionist:?Alongside my studies, I also worked full time at a hardware store, where I unexpectedly learned a lot about carpentry. ??PR Internship:?My second internship was in Public Relations, where I discovered it to be a true passion of mine. ??Administrative Role:?Next, I had the unique opportunity to work as an administrator, which came with its own set of exciting challenges. ??Pension Fund Administration:?My current role has been an unexpected but rewarding detour, teaching me new skills I never thought I’d enjoy. I graduated last year and plan to pursue my Honours in Communications in 2025 because a girl can never just have one degree!! I’m super eager to gain more exposure in my field and hopefully connect with inspiring people along the way. If our paths align, let’s connect I’d love to learn from your journey too!

The secret to my first internship? No CV—just a Coke and my phone. In my final year of college, while everyone else was busy updating their CVs to find internships, I had a different idea. The legendary documentary filmmaker Werner Herzog once said: “If you want to make something, make it NOW—with whatever resources and knowledge you have—and put it out into the world. Then, you’ll see the magic happen.” Instead of perfecting my CV, I decided to work on passion projects that showcased both the skills I had and the things I was learning along the way. I grabbed my Mi phone, and a Coke bottle, and set out to create a spec ad.? ?? Researched storyboarding techniques to plan every frame. ?? Analyzed global and Indian soda ads for storytelling inspiration. ?? Experimented with music, sound design, and visuals to craft compelling audio-visual experiences. When I finally uploaded the video, people started sharing it. The feedback was overwhelming. Then the Mi team reached out, amazed by the quality. One of them even said, “I never thought our mobile could make an ad like that.” Then, after a few interview rounds with Sandeep Sarma, I landed my first internship—without sending a single CV. It’s not what’s on paper that counts. It’s the passion projects that showcase what drives you. Let your work speak louder than your résumé. Next time someone asks me how I got my first internship, I’ll simply say: It all started with just a Coke, a phone, and Werner Herzog. #FirstInternship #InternshipJourney #MadeWithMi #MiPhone #CreativeJourney

3 Keys for Interns to Level Up ?? So you landed that sweet internship - congrats! Now it's time to shine and make the most of this opportunity. Based on my experience mentoring interns, here are 3 crucial life skills to focus on: 1) Stay Curious ?? Don't just do the bare minimum. Ask questions, seek feedback, and keep learning. An insatiable thirst for knowledge is what separates the good from the great interns. 2) Bring Energy ?? As the new kid, you'll face plenty of grunt work. But tackle every task with enthusiasm and a positive attitude. Your drive and passion will be contagious! 3) Build Relationships ?? An internship is as much about the work as it is about networking. Make connections, find mentors, and nurture those bonds. The people you meet could open doors down the road. Developing skills like curiosity, energy, and relationship-building will help you impress your seniors. Also, it will help you set you up for long-term career success. Stay hungry, interns! ?? 1 WEEK INTO MY INTERNSHIP, HERE'S WHAT I’VE LEARNED ?? Hey Network, I’m back with good news to share!? I'm excited to announce that I’ve begun my 4-month internship with the Commercial Team at Warner Music Group. ?? I’m eager to immerse myself in the music and entertainment industry, and to maximise the personal and professional growth this experience offers.?? After wrapping up my first week, I wanted to share some advice for anyone starting or looking to secure an internship! 1?? Ask QUESTIONS!????♀? Balance being proactive with being transparent. While it's great to do your own research, don’t hesitate to ask questions, even if they seem silly. Whether it’s a term or an acronym, others have likely wondered the same. Remember, each day you’ll know more than you did before!?? 2?? Networking NEVER STOPS?? After attending lots of company events, firms open days, insight evenings and Q&A’s the process of networking, getting to know new people and strike up conversation can easily feel like an arduous process. So my best piece of advice would be CHANGE IT UP??The fact is we are only at the beginning of our networking journey so if you find yourself asking the same questions in a repetitive cycle, you are going to get bored! Change up your questions and listen actively to responses. Everyone has unique insights, so stay interested and engaged.?? 3?? Be genuine???Before stating I initially worried about perfectly distinguishing my personal and professional self. However, after my first few days, I realised the importance of authenticity. An application always goes both ways! The company choose the best candidate and you choose if the company is right for YOU. ????If you have been offered an internship, after doing all of your research, be yourself, stay friendly, and enjoy the learning opportunity.?? From the application questions alone, I could tell that Warner Music Group, valued my thinking, my ideas and were offering an opportunity for me to grow. With my interview echoing the same sentiments, it’s not surprising that everyone is very open and friendly and want to get to know me for me. Its best to just be yourself, stay friendly and enjoy the opportunity to learn?? Big thank you to The Social Mobility Foundation and Megan Doherty for all the support in this process?? Let me know if posts like these are helpful and if there’s more content you’d like to see!???? #internship #growth #learningopportunity

Today, I express a profound thank you to: ? The companies ? Institutions ? Job applications ? Internship opportunities ? Board member roles ? Collaboration offers …that decided to go in different directions, after dedicating time, energy, rounds of interviews, and crafting essays to prove my value for sometimes unpaid positions. It has been an ugly truth to process, and even more intense to embrace the reality that these experiences are guiding me closer to where I am truly meant to be. I strongly believe that we all find our rightful place when we embrace the path that leads us to where we belong. As woo woo ??as it sounds: the universe is only pointing you in the direction where you are meant to be. Let rejection be redirection. #internship #RejectionIsRedirection #letGo #marketing #advertising

While I was in university, I did internships, part-time jobs, and volunteer gigs in as many different areas as I could. As I was uncertain about my future career path, I chose to explore and try different areas to broaden my knowledge and skills. I had lots of trouble finding opportunities, so i jumped on whatever came along, seeing every role was a chance to learn and grow. A few areas I invested in from 2019-2021: ?? Creative direction (unpaid internship at media agency + an advertising agency) ?? Workshop design (teaching assistant at university, weekly volunteer at a community learning center) ?? Coaching/Mentoring (university planning & career coaching for high school & university students, self-initiated) ?? Journalism (writing gig for an Onsen festival) ?? Customer service (convenience store + burger stand part time job) ?? User Experience Design (volunteer at a social enterprise on sustainability) ?? Product Management (paid internship at a TravelTech company) I was taking on all sorts of tasks and work because I had too many hobbies and could not settle for just one. Not every opportunities worked out, but I could always clearly define what I enjoyed and did not for each of them. ???? At the end, I realized the best kinds of opportunities were the ones that I did not have to compromise my skills and personalities over. And as I accumulate more experiences and credibility after each role, I start seeing clearer what I want in my next one. ? Be patient with yourself. Some people might know exactly what they want to do, but if you don't, it doesn't make you any less capable. Experimenting with different roles and industries can actually give you a more diverse and holistic view on the meaning of "work". Most of the time, this diversity of experience will make you a unique asset in a team. Don't be afraid to try something new. You never know where you'll find your passion(s) . #careertips #careercoaching #internship
