IT'S A HEART THING Glen Meadows located in Hamilton, Ohio has a monthly BINGO store for their residents; the residents get BINGO bucks for participating and winning games. Torlana is a Restorative Aide at the facility and one of her residents doesn't like BINGO but like to shop at the store. Torlana takes him and then with her own money makes a donation to the store. We have so many good staff that go above and beyond for their residents because they become like family. Doing something extra for someone and not wanting anything in return is a beautiful thing. Foundations Core Value #2 is "Do what is right, even when no one is watching." Torlana is one of so many more of our caring staff across the State that give so much of themselves to their residents and fellow staff. They are our Culture of Care, and they are making a difference every day. You don’t do the right things for credit, you do it because it’s right. Torlana does what she does for her residents because it makes her residents feel happy and at home! By doing what’s right and not looking for recognition makes everyone’s jobs and lives easier and more fulfilled. Introducing Caring Through the Cold ???? We are very excited to share with you our new campaign Caring Through the Cold! We want people to understand the importance of keeping elderly individuals safe, warm, and comfortable during the colder months. The campaign will involve: ??Cosy blankets from Homelium being handed out to the vulnerable elderly people. ??Helping to educate people on the importance of keeping warm by sharing winter safety tips, home care solutions, and the benefits of tailored care. ??Partnering with local organisations, charities, or community groups to extend the reach of the importance of the campaign. We want to make sure that everyone feels warm throughout the colder months as no one deserves to feel cold, especially with the rising costs of heating! These charities are lifelines offering hope, housing, and mental health support for the veteran community and their families. Truly they play a MAJOR role in the success and well-being of each other. Not only if it done correctly will it drive economic growth, but it can also enhance the quality of life for everyone involved. For example: Mike Morse - ?? Mike realized there was an overwhelming need for backpacks and supplies for the Detroit Public School students. He took on that mission and as of last year over 300,000 backpacks were donated to Michigan students. ???? Mike hosts Meet Your Best Friend event, where not only does he host the event two times a year and donates to the Michigan Humane, but he also pays for pets to be shown on local TV and will pay for those featured pets adoption fees! ???? Mike has also stepped out of his comfort zone (Personal Injury) into criminal defense to help free Michael Anthony Griffin, a man who had spent over 13 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. David L. Thomas, MBA - ?? David and his team believe in boots on the ground with big and small events for their communities. They get in front of their audience with these events, and pull their members into building the community around these charities need/want. When businesses invest in their communities they improve the environment they operate in. In turn, these improvements lead to a better quality of life for their residents. It is about understanding the community's need, supporting the local causes, and contributing to a shared vision. This builds trust, loyalty, and long term relationships. Christmas is coming! What is a joyous time for many brings dread for others. Feeding Families (UK) has always had Christmas at its core as that's how we got started and the need never gets less. We launched our Christmas campaign this week with the support of Kim McGuinness, North East Mayor. Especially if you are local to us (but you don't have to be), can you do one of the following: 1. Empowering communities in West Lothian ????? We’re thrilled to announce that the Persimmon Foundation has donated ￡15,000 to The Larder, an incredible charity in #WestLothian dedicated to tackling food insecurity and empowering individuals through training and support. The Larder’s impactful work includes delivering over 150,000 meals to those in need and offering life-changing training in employability, life skills, and wellbeing. Their innovative Catalyst Kitchen projects—like meal deliveries, dining events, and cook-and-dine classes—foster resilience and bring communities closer together. I echo what Stephen has said. Our volunteering day at St Luke's Charity Shop in Crookes, Sheffield was indeed "hard work, but fun." Spending the whole day on our feet was quite tiring for those of us who usually sit at a desk... More importantly, it was a real eye opener too, highlighting the following points: 1). How much effort goes into running a Charity Shop, particularly behind the scenes. 2). How much money is needed by St Luke's each year in order to keep doing their fantastic work. Total required this year is ￡14 Million. NHS funds 25% so that leaves c.￡10.5 Million to be raised through donations, legacies, retail shops and other activities. Many thousands of Sheffield folks will have their lives touched in some way by St Luke's. So if you can spare your time to volunteer, or are able to donate (either cash or unwanted items) then please give generously. You will be supporting a great cause! https://lnkd.in/euze8eyi
